Jack the Monkey is a minifigure monkey from the Pirates of the Caribbean theme. He only appears in LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game.
Description[edit | edit source]
The character is shaped like a normal monkey element, but has many differences in colour. His hands are flesh-shaped, like most minifigures in licensed themes. His torso is printed with a red jacket pattern, while his arms are white. His face and eyes are also printed.
Background[edit | edit source]
Jack is Captain Barbossa's pet capuchin monkey, named after Jack Sparrow to mock him after Sparrow was marooned on a deserted island. He shares the curse of the Black Pearl, being immortal, but does not seem to mind the drawbacks of eternal starvation. After the full trove of Aztec gold is restored and the curse is lifted, Jack manages to pilfer a single coin before Isla de Muerta sinks into the sea, bringing the curse back onto himself again.
With Barbossa defeated and the Black Pearl back in the hands of Jack Sparrow, Jack the Monkey remains on board to constantly antagonise the crew. They're only too happy to barter him to Tia Dalma for a jar of dirt and the location of the Flying Dutchman. When Tia resurrects Barbossa, Jack once again becomes his pet.
He joins Barbossa on his mission to rescue Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones' Locker, working with Cotton's parrot to set off a fireworks explosion that allows the crew to escape with a map. He later took part in the Battle of Calypso's Maelstrom. He was gleefully fired from a cannon by Pintel and Ragetti onto the Flying Dutchman where he began attacking Jones' crew. After the battle ended and Barbossa stole the Pearl back from Jack Sparrow, Jack the Monkey joins Barbossa as they search for the Fountain of Youth.
In "On Stranger Tides" he is trapped in the bottle containing The Black Pearl, along with Cotton's parrot.
