Mordor Orcs are minifigures from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit themes released in May 2012.
Description[edit | edit source]
Mordor Orcs are tan-coloured, with brown hands. They have extremely dilated eye sockets with great orange eyes and have piercings on their left eyebrow and nose. Two lines indicate nostrils and their two front teeth are sharper than the others.
They wear an assortment of brown leather pieces over gray armor, with no pants, just bare legs with the same colour as their face and arms.
Background[edit | edit source]
Mordor Orcs were once elves, but were corrupted and mutilated by Morgoth, Sauron's predecessor and teacher. He created orcs to be the infantry of his army. After Morgoth was defeated, the orcs were scattered but later regrouped under the banner of Sauron in the east of Middle Earth. Sauron made an attempt to defeat the Elven kingdom of Gil-Galad Ereinion but was stopped by the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. After this battle, the orcs were scattered throughout the Misty Mountains and Mirkwood. In the north of the Misty Mountains, they rallied to the Witch-king's banner and attacked the weakened petty kingdoms of Arnor, ruled by the descendants of Isildur, son of Elendil. This campaign was successful and Arnor was destroyed. After Sauron regained his power, many orcs went to Mordor and started to harass Gondor. The once-honorable wizard Saruman, under Sauron's guidance, took some orcs of Mordor and created the Uruk-Hai to be his main fighting force, while the Mordor Orcs became Saruman's workforce in his forges and his main source of manpower for his armies. These orcs were the main part of the force that attacked Minas Tirith. Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee encountered many orcs on their way from Minas Morgul to Mount Doom. The orcs were hunted to extinction after the defeat of Sauron and the destruction of the One Ring by the men of Rohan and the Reunited Kingdom.
