- “Why can't you be more like your sweet little brother Mungus?”
- ―Maula to Mottrot
Mottrot is a Legends of Chima mammoth minifigure released mid-2014. He is the older brother of Mungus and the son of Maula. Mottrot has appeared in the majority of episodes of The Legend of the Fire Chi.
Description[edit | edit source]
Mottrot's flesh tone is brick yellow, though he also features transparent blue and medium blue elements. Unlike his brother Mungus and mother Maula, he does not have any exposed muscle tissue on his trunk. However, he has patches of exposed muscle on the top of his head. He also possesses a tear on his left leg, as well as a tear on the left side of his chest.
Background[edit | edit source]
Mottrot originally lived when the Phoenix first descended and built their academies atop Mount Cavora. Shortly thereafter, he and the rest of his family joined with Sir Fangar after the Saber-Tooth Tiger had accumulated so much knowledge from the Phoenix that he became convinced he should be the ruler of Chima. Their forces plowed through Chima causing destruction everywhere they went until the Phoenix used the Great Illumination to cast Mottrot and the rest of the hunters into the Gorge of Eternal Depth. Down there, Mottrot was frozen along with the rest of the Hunters in a dreamless sleep for ten thousand years until he was revived by Sir Fangar shortly after the defeat of the Crawlers. However, he was only awake for a short while before Maula insisted he hand over his Chi orb so she could revive his younger brother Mungus. He immediately protested, but relinquished it in the end. ("Trial by Fire","Fire Dreaming")
Mottrot was later revived using Chi from the Crocodile Swamp and joined the rest of the hunters in their journey to The Fangs. He took part in the Hunter's first battle against the Chima tribes, which ended in their victory. ("Attack of the Ice Clan")
The Hunters continued onward, their conquest going unchallenged until they entered a canyon. There, Mottrot noted to his mother that the Chima tribe's might be up on the hills trying to throw rocks at them, but his notion was dismissed. However, Mottrot proved to be right as seconds later, he was crushed by a large rock. Maula immediately scolded him for lying down on the job and ordered him to protect his brother. ("The Call of Cavora")
Some time later, Mottrot dug the Hunter's speedorz out of the ice and began fixing them, though Maula gave the credit to Mungus who actually only carried them. The Hunter's then used their speedorz during their attempt to seize the Crescent, but they failed and were forced to retreat. ("The Crescent")
The Hunters were pushed back by the Chima tribes to the Gorge of Eternal Depth, but thanks to Mottrot's ingenuity (though Maula made sure the credit was given to Mungus) the Hunters mixed their ice with the nearby tar pits to create a bridge halfway down the gorge. Sir Fangar then ordered the mammoths to secure their fortress while the sabre-tooth tigers and vultures went to the gorilla forest to gather more Chi. When they arrived, the Chima tribes were already launching their attack on the fortress and the mammoths repelled them back until Mungus's foot became caught in the glacier. Mottrot then suggested that Laval use his Fire Chi to free him in exchange for the mammoths to retreat. The Lion agreed and soon Mungus was freed. ("Fired Up!")
The mammoths followed their end of the deal and retreated to the Gorge of Eternal Depth which they used to return to the Hunter's fortress. There, they regrouped with Stealthor and Vardy's forces and set off through the underground tunnels in search of the phoenix child Flinx for Sir Fangar's collection. However, their efforts proved in vain as they accidentally captured Skinnet who released his smell, poisoning the caves. Eventually however, they found Flinx at the Crocodile Swamp dropping off the Crocodile Legend and launched an attack with her two sons. During the battle, he dueled Cragger until Mungus created a whisp of snow which Mottrot used as cover to grab the phoenix child. Yet when they returned to Sir Fangar, Mottrot discovered that he had actually grabbed Plovar instead, much to the enrage of Sir Fangar. ("Cool and Collected")
LEGO.com Description[edit | edit source]
This is a description taken from LEGO.com. Please do not modify it. (see the source of this quote) Mottrot
Mottrot is one of the smartest warriors in all of the Ice Hunter tribes, a master planner who has devised incredibly effective battle strategies. Unfortunately, he doesn’t get much credit for his brains. He is short, and among Mammoths that means you aren’t respected. And his mother, Maula, dotes on his huge, dumb brother Mungus. She gives Mungus the credit for all of Mottrot’s great ideas. Mottrot doesn’t object, because he doesn’t want to get his Mom angry at him. Mottrot can’t even get a little comfort when he gets hurt in battle. Maula will usually just blame him for being clumsy.
