Nui-Kopen is a BIONICLE alternate model which appeared in 2001. It can be built with the pieces of 8537 Nui-Rama, the instructions being included in the instructions of the set.

History[edit | edit source]

The Nui-Kopen species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.

When the Great Cataclysm struck and caused the creation of the island of Mata Nui, several Nui-Kopen from Metru Nui migrated to the island and integrated themselves into the Le-Wahi habitat.

During the The Dark Time on Mata Nui, Nui-Kopen were possessed by Makuta Teridax with his Infected Kanohi, and he often forced them and the Nui-Rama to work together, even living in the same nests. Teridax at one point used one of his possessed Nui-Kopen to ambush Toa Mata Lewa and then fit him with an Infected Mask. However, thanks to the efforts of Onua, Lewa was freed and reclaimed his mask. Lewa quickly used his Kanohi Komau to exert mind control on the Nui-Kopen and use it as transport to return the kidnapped Matoran residents of Le-Koro.

The Nui-Kopen that inhabited Mata Nui retreated back to Metru Nui after the Toa Nuva released the Bohrok swarms.

Mutated Nui-Kopen[edit | edit source]

Roodaka[edit | edit source]

Roodaka once owned a mutated Nui-Kopen as her personal pet, which she used to travel very quickly.

Karda Nui[edit | edit source]

In Karda Nui, a Nui-Kopen attacked Onua, but was bashed into the waters of the Swamp. Because of the mutagen in the waters, the Nui-Kopen transformed into a creature with a longer wingspan, a sharp and barbed stinger and tentacles sprouting from its sides. It was later killed when the Energy Storms struck.

Abilities and Traits[edit | edit source]

Nui-Kopen are enemies of the smaller Nui-Rama, and they will willingly attack each other on sight. Their extreme hatred of each other is because of the fact that they hunt the same prey, leading to fierce competition.

Like the Nui-Rama, they can fly high above the treetops at incredible speeds.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • In the Matoran language, Nui-Kopen translates literally as Great Wasp.
