'Tis the season for minifigure cubes.[edit | edit source]

Welcome to my review of 5004077 Minifigure Pack! :) This "set" contains 4 exclusive minifigures from 4 themes: Lightning Lad from DC Universe Super Heroes, Kai from Ninjago, Sir Fangar from Legends of Chima, and a diver from City. The set is exclusive to Target and costs $10 USD, 5 dollars less than last year's cube.

The Box[edit | edit source]

One of the most unique aspects of this set is its packaging. The minifigures are assembled and placed in the molded black thing, then placed in the cube shaped box. It looks nice, but the black thing is notorious for messing up the capes on the Chima figures.

The Set[edit | edit source]

As seen above, each figure comes with a gray minifigure baseplate.

Lightning Lad[edit | edit source]

Lightning Lad is the only minifigure in this set that is from a licensed theme. His facial expressions are really cool, as is the printed tattoo on his arm. Even the sides of his legs are printed as well, which is nice considering most of the figures in the superhero line don't even have leg printing. It would have been nice if he came with a couple of those lightning pieces.

Kai[edit | edit source]

Here Kai comes in his exclusive stone armor variant. The only other ninja to have stone armor variants were Lloyd Garmadon and Zane. The torso printing looks great, as does his new facial expression. Also, he is the only minifigure in this set to have any accessories.

Sir Fangar[edit | edit source]

I think this is supposed to be a non-ice-zombie variant of Sir Fangar. Although I'm not a fan of Chima, I thought his zombie variant with the transparent body parts was better than this one. Similar to the year before, this figure's cape is crinkled up. Also, it would have been great if they included a sword and chi for him like they did with Lavertus last year.

Diver[edit | edit source]

Last but not least is the diver minifigure from City. Instead of having a black and red color scheme like the other divers in this year's sets, he has a black and blue color scheme. He also has dual-molded arms, which are always great. For a City-themed minifigure, this is pretty superb.

Conclusion[edit | edit source]

These figures are pretty good, and I would recommend buying one if you can (but not if above msrp). I'm glad that the cube is cheaper this year, but there are fewer accessories for the minifigures too.

Pros:

  • Overall great minifigures
  • You can never have too many baseplates! :)
  • Cool Packaging!
  • Some nice details on the minifigures
  • Great price

Cons:

  • The Chima figure is a little bland
  • The curse of the crinkled cape strikes again
  • Less minifigure accessories this year

Here's to hoping for an even better cube next year! Thanks for reading!
