Review:71011 Minifigures Series 15/Albus Potter

From Brickipedia, the LEGO Wiki

I used to get complete sets of Collectible Minifigures when the first showed up. These early figures were less detailed but still just as desirable. Series 15 comes years after my last completed series and I am amazed. This series has so much to be amazed with. The detail and printing of these figures is amazing.

Shark Guy[edit | edit source]

Shark Suit Guy is happy to be the most famous shark of them all, at least he dresses up like him. Similar to Chicken Suit guy this figure has had normal minifigure arms replaced. Rather than Wings for shark guy he wears flippers. His costume is based off the newer 2015 shark which uses pritted eyes rather than the older indented eyes. Mr. shark doesn’t wish to be camouflaged as he is in a brighter blue than any other LEGO shark. He wears a two expressions. He can have a very happy expression or wear a dire one when he pretends the shark is eating him. The figure is simple, but it helps this figure stay very cute.

Spaceman[edit | edit source]

The next figure is tries to hide his joy of being the first Minifigure on Mars with a small smile. His beard is the product of 3 months in a space craft. The LEGO City Space program has achieved an amazing feat. This high-tech space suit is one of my most detailed figures I have ever gotten. It features arm and side leg printing which is still very rare even in today’s trend of highly detailed figures. The figure personally reminds me of the Mars Mission Astronaut, due to the gold visor and suit details. Of course this guy beats any other LEGO Astronaut. Part of me wishes he had back printing, but the air tank is good enough. He holds a flag with classic space logo on both sides, however it is the same print on both sides and in not flipped over on the back. The call backs to classic space only make a great figure better.

Laser Mech[edit | edit source]

The LEGO Space theme is well represented with this series. The Laser Mech is the robotic right hand man to some space wizard somewhere in the galaxy. I originally thought that he was a recoloured Galaxy Squad Robot, but only the armor and wings have been recolored. I love the silver detailing on the figure it turned out very good.Under the armor he has a face that a single wave. It looks nice on this figure and adds necessary robotic detailing, but it is probably useless off this figure. His torso detailing is completely unnecessary due to his bulking armor but is a great addition. Personally I think it looks like something out of Tron. It should be very reusable by Sci-fi fans. The laser he holds him simply the Lighting Elemental Blade from Ninjago. I feel like he would have been better suited with a lightsaber blade due to him being the laser mech.

Clumsy Guy[edit | edit source]

Clumsy guy is one of the unluckiest minifigures ever. His injuries have led to two brand new parts that will be very useful for those wishing to depict Minifigures with injuries or in a hospital. The crutches are a long waited for LEGO element and they are worth the wait. Clumsy man also makes a good use of more recent Minifigure feature of dual molded arms and legs. This gives him short sleeves and his cast. I love that an amount of dedication was put into this figure to give him small printing on his cast.

Kendo Warrior[edit | edit source]

The Kendo Warrior is suited up for battle came well equipped with two katanas. From what I can see this is an accurate representation of kendo armor. When Ninjago did Kendo suits for the ninja it seemed like more of a gimmick to sell toys rather than to make a legitimate representation of this armor. I myself am not familiar with kendo, but google images shows me a lot of people dressed in the way this figure. His helmet has more printing that this mold has had in the past. The red loop has never been printed and adds very nice details to this figure. His face reminds me of some of the faces of the samurai from the 1999 Ninja theme. The leg print is way too dark to be be seen on the physical minifigurege under normal lighting. I feel this could have easily been left off

Jewel Thief[edit | edit source]

Jewel Thief is one of the most skilled thieves in LEGO City. Like the Kendo warrior’s leg print, a lot of the dark blue printing on the torso and legs of this figure is hard to see under normal light. The face print can be very useful to customize some of the crook minifigures in LEGO City. Her hair piece is a new recolor in black which is very useful. Her accessories are some of the weakest in the wave being just a common jewel and a grapple gun made of common parts.

Queen[edit | edit source]

The Queen is one of the most regal looking LEGO minifigures ever. The Collectible Minifigure line has introduced many new parts of the years but is very rare for one to include 2 new parts that can be used again in other sets. The queen’s new leg and hair piece are very reusable for medieval figures. The crown is a removable reused Belville part. Her hair is a very useful new mold that will probably be used to represent more queens or castle princesses in the years to come. This hair piece is probably the most accurate medieval hairpiece LEGO has done in awhile. The new dress piece is a great new addition and is much better that the slope piece for representing medieval dresses worn by queens. It connects to the torso by a normal leg connection. The printing on this figure is highly detailed and is one of the better figures in this wave. I don’t mind the reused cape from the series 13 king, as it helps makes displaying the figures together look better.

Janitor[edit | edit source]

The Janitor’s humble occupation may make him less desirable to many, however some find him very important for their LEGO Cities as he is the second ever LEGO janitor figure (but the best and easiest to get). The hat for this figure is a rather new part only used in one other figure. His blue suit is a stereotypical janitor suit color. The details on this figure make it look like he has been hard at work and make him far superior to the 2010 janitor. I like how this figure has a mustache as LEGO figures don’t seem to have as many moustaches as they used to. The mop piece is new and is going to be a very useful part in the future. It can fit on the rod in either direction. I like how this figure is very simple and not overly detailed like some of the others. It helps him look not out of place in a LEGO city. For some reason my figure’s hands are a different shade of yellow that the arms. I have noticed this on a lot of the dual molded figures.

Golden Warrior[edit | edit source]

The Greek mythology inspired Golden Warrior is one of my favorite figures in this wave. I love how LEGO did not choice to make a new part for this figure even though they could have and chose to reuse one from Chima. This theme can be known for making new parts when existing ones work fine. I’ve wanting a winder helmet since Thor was released in 2012. While the color doesn’t work with Thor, it could easily be reused for him.I love the very small bird heard detail that makes it look like he has a bird on his helmet. His head is a generic warrior head design, while new, it can be compared to other warrior heads in the line. (Elf Warrior from series 3 for example) His wings on his back are very large and I am unsure if he looks better without them. The torso print reminds me of the Spartan Warrior and I wish it has some of the additional printed detail that firgure had. The leg printing continues the wing aesthetic and is some of the best leg printing I have ever seen from LEGO.

Animal Control Officer[edit | edit source]

The Animal Control Officer is not my favorite figure of the wave. Despite being a brand new concept for LEGO she looks too similar to a standard Forest Police officer. Her hair is the very common series one nurse hair. He head seems rather generic with perhaps an uncomfortable smile. The torso detailing is nice and I like the use of dual molding. There is also a nice printed badge on the right arm. The legs have dark brown details on the sides which are not a necessary detail, but only make the figure better. She uses a Fabuland net which is a proper re-use. The skunk can fit in this net. The skunk is a new mold and is very good figure. The printing makes it look much better.

Faun[edit | edit source]

The faun is one of my favorite figures of this wave, perhaps it is due to LEGO never having done a faun figure before. He uses a new horn piece and goat legs. These goat legs are the same size as normal minifigure legs. They are very for characters at normal minifigure height but with not human legs. Currently they have been re-used in one other figure. The hair/horns piece is new and I feel like the horns are not very believable and could have been better if lifted up slightly more from the hair.I find it interesting how he comes with a printed flute yet the series 13 snake charmer came with just a rod. Perhaps this was done due complaints of the lack of printing there. The torso should have had back printing, but it is fine.

Native American Woman[edit | edit source]

The last Native American woman minifigure was released in the late 90’s with the western theme. I love western based figures so this is a great figure to have. The amazing printing on this figure helps it stand out from the older Native American figures. The hair piece is from the classic theme, which I find surprising that they still have the mold. The use of dual molded arms and legs make this figure’s attire seem more realistic. The first ever LEGO baby should make people want this figure more. It is a single piece but previewed the full baby figure we would get later in 2016.

Ballerina[edit | edit source]

The ballerina is not my favorite figure in the wave but is still a good figure. The hair piece used have nice prints on it. The new tutu piece is new and is a great piece My favorite part of this figure is the leg printing. Leg and arm printing is something I always like and I wish it was in more themes such as Star Wars. The the figures head and torso pieces are very reusable in LEGO City displays, however the figure as a whole seems too simple to me.

Farmer[edit | edit source]

The farmer re-uses the scarecrow’s hat and I do wish it was a recolor, but it is fine. The farmer’s head and torso I could see being reused in city sets later. I like how the farmer’s torso is an updated recolor of the 2009 City Farm farmer torso. In fact, I can see a lot of similarities between the 2009 bearded farmer and this farmer. It just shows the improvement that can happen in 8 years for LEGO. An added bonus to the figure is the pig. The pig is almost the same as previous pigs, however the spot design is new. I expect it to remain exclusive .

Frightening Knight[edit | edit source]

The Frightening Knight is seemingly based off of the Dragon knights of 2010’s Kingdoms theme. I always love to see LEGO do throwbacks to older figures with the CM line and this is a good throwback. The figure’s head perfectly captures this character's personality, which cannot be said for many other figures. The new mace piece will be a great new weapon for the LEGO Castle themes. In the past maces were done inaccurately with gears so this looks way better. The tip of the mace is a removable soft plastic part that fits onto a shorter lightsaber blade. The main downside to this figure is the shield. It doesn't match the colors of the figure. Personally I think it should have had a dragon rather than a bear, but if it were dark green and black it would look better regardless of the animal on it.

Superwrestler[edit | edit source]

The last figure is the super wrestler. He is important due to him having the first ever LEGO mullet. Honestly I’m surprised it took them this long to make one. This figure is stylized to like like it came out of the 80’s with the retro hair and colors. This is a nice touch to the figure and prevents it from becoming generic. The printing on this figure is very nice, however it is very specialized to retro wrestling and not of them figure’s pieces have much purpose on anything else.

Collectible Minifigures are one of the themes that seems to be to most LEGO to me now days. Now forgotten themes such as Castle, Pirates and Space, often get recognition in this line. That makes them one of my favorite themes.

Thank you so much for sending me this series to review for you.
