Spinoza was Redbeard's pet monkey.

Spinoza was held in a cage on Governor Broadside's ship until he was freed by Camilla when Captain Redbeard's crew attacked. He stowed away on The Dark Shark until he was found by Redbeard, who wanted to shoot him and take the gold coin around his neck. However, Bo'Sun Will convinced the captain otherwise and that it was good luck to have a monkey on board a ship.[1]
