Stargirl is a character who appears in LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham.
Background[edit | edit source]
Courtney Whitmore is the stepdaughter of the Golden Age hero Stripesy. To punish him for marrying her mother and moving their family away from her hometown, she steals the equipment of his partner and becomes the new Star-Spangled Kid. Stripesy allows her to do so, but on the condition that he protects her while she fights crime, in a mech-suit called S.T.R.I.P.E.. Star-Spangled Kid and S.T.R.I.P.E. join the Justice Society of America. When he retires, Starman passes his cosmic rod to Courtney and she changes her codename to Stargirl.
In the new timeline, Stargirl is a member of the Justice League of America, selected due to her popularity with the public and to be a counter for Cyborg, should the independent Justice League go rogue. She participates in the Trinity War where the Justice League, Justice League of America, and Justice League Dark meet and their members battle over Pandora's Box, leading to the coming of the Crime Syndicate from an alternate Earth. Stargirl manages to escape from the Syndicate's prison with help from Martian Manhunter and is able to help Batman free the heroes who are still incarcerated. In the aftermath, the Justice League of America disbands because they do not appreciate how the government had treated them. A few of the members, Stargirl among them, do team up with other heroes in the Justice League United soon after.
