Spider-Man 2099, or just Spider-Man, is the alias of Miguel O'Hara. He is from Earth-921, but is currently residing in the mainstream universe as Michael O'Mara.
Background
O'Hara worked for the company Alchemax, but was less than pleased with the corporation's control over the city. Being a genius in the field of genetics, he was pressured by Tyler Stone to test a process to imprint genetic codes into human physiology. He reluctantly tried the process on a subject named Mr. Sims. It was a failure and turned Mr. Sims into a hideous creature that quickly died.
Miguel was outraged and attempted to hand in his notice, only to have his drink laced with an addictive hallucinogen called Rapture. As Alchemax was the sole manufacturer of the drug, he would be forced to stay. To get rid of the hallucinogen, Miguel tried the genetic procedure on himself. The process was sabotaged by his supervisor in an attempt to kill him, but Miguel survived it. His DNA was spliced with the genes of a spider and he gained several powers from this.
Miguel adapted a Day of the Dead outfit into his costume so he could battle Alchemax and several villains as the new Spider-Man.

As of right now, Miguel is in the original Spider-Man's timeline where he had a brief encounter with the Superior Spider-Man, who, unbeknownst to Miguel, was actually Doctor Octopus in Peter Parker's body. After their skirmish, they team-up to prevent time itself from being destroyed, which was Miguel's initial plan when traveling to the "Heroic Age." During this, Miguel is on the brink of killing his grandfather, Tiberius "Ty" Stone, but stops because he realizes that this will destroy the future New York. He also realizes that Tyler Stone has destroyed the time portal, leaving Miguel stranded, inspiring him to masquerade as Ty's new assistant at the newly established Alchemax.
He had yet another altercation with the Superior Spider-Man after this. They initially worked together to defeat the Goblin King's army, but Otto left Miguel to face hijacked Spider Slayers by himself. Miguel knew this couldn't be the actual Spider-Man seeing as he left a comrade behind and later learned that Peter's mind had been swapped with Otto's.
