The Kranua is a BIONICLE combiner model introduced in 2004. It can be built with the pieces of 8614 Nuurakh, 8616 Vorzakh and 8618 Rorzakh. The instructions were included in the instructions of these sets.

History

The Kranua was designed in secret by Nuparu and built by a select team of Po-Matoran engineers.

On their journey back to Metru Nui from the island of Mata Nui, the Toa Metru encountered a Kranua. The Vahki was first spotted in its sand form by Whenua, who slipped and remarked on the presence of sand on the floor of the tunnel they were traveling through. The coating of sand then transformed into a sand cyclone, and threw Whenua and Matau into the tunnel walls.

The Vahki then reformed into its normal, robotic form. Matau recovered, and fought against the Kranua, which turned itself back into sand during the battle. Using the opportunity, Matau blasted the coating of sand away using his Air powers, and revived Whenua. The two then quickly made their way back to the other Toa, who were behind them, but was stopped when the Kranua formed itself into a wall of sand in front of them.

The Vahki then formed itself into a tidal wave of sand, and attempted to suffocate the two Toa. Matau retaliated, only for the wave to form a sandstorm. Luckily, Nuju arrived in time and transported Matau and Whenua out of the storm using his Kanohi Matatu. Onewa, under Vakama's instructions, then attempted to force the Vahki, which had reformed into its robotic form, into its sand form once more by attacking it with his Stone powers. As it was transforming, Vakama unleashed a blast of fire, and turned it into a statue of glass. Matau later tipped it over and smashed it.

All the other Kranua have been destroyed by either the Great Cataclysm or the Visorak hordes.

Abilities and Traits

The Kranua was powerful and bulky, but could also transform itself into animated grains of Protodermis. It could then flow through narrow cracks or vanish into the pavement, before reforming somewhere else. This made the Kranua highly effective at pursuing lawbreakers into tiny spaces or confusing rampaging Rahi with its sudden disappearances and reappearances. It was particularly ideal for crowd control and mass Rahi breakouts from the Archives.
