Proposed Name Changes lists articles that are proposed to be moved to a different title.

While it should be clear for most articles what the title should be from our naming conventions, there are those which are not so straightforward. An example of this includes a minifigure which is given two different names in the same official description.

Voting will last for a maximum of one week, with the article being moved to the highest vote count. If a vote reaches a ratio of 3:1 (or 3/0), the voting may be concluded and the article moved. Nominations whose names are clearly defined in the naming conventions may be struck by an administrator.

A list of past proposals is available here.

If you want to make a new suggestion, please add {{Renameto}} to the article and set up a nomination by entering the following into the creation box:

Katana (Minifigure), move to "Katana (character)"[edit source]

The following section is preserved as an archive. Please do not modify it. The result was moved

Move

  1. Probably too minor to really bother talking about either way. But Katana has never appeared as an actual minifigure per se, but only as a video game character. NovaHawk 07:00, May 17, 2012 (UTC)

Discussion

  • True, but I don't think it really matters. I think we could actually name her Katana, though, just with a redirect otherpage template to the part which could be called Katana. Berrybrick 11:40, May 17, 2012 (UTC)

Original Skeleton, move to "Skeleton (original)"[edit source]

Move

  1. The original skeleton has only ever been referred to as "Skeleton", so why are we using a conjectural name? NovaHawk 23:32, June 15, 2012 (UTC)

Jay (Ninjago), move to "Jay"

I know that there is a nomination to rename the page above, but it really should have been closed by now. The reason the page has "(Ninjago)" at the end is because of this guy who I think it is safe to say nobody has ever given much thought to. If somebody types "jay" into the search bar, who do you think they are looking for? Some minor character in a game that came out about ten years ago or a main character in one of the most popular themes of all time?

Discussion

  • Move, as nominator. Berrybrick 18:42, August 7, 2012 (UTC)
  • I've speedily done it. Its the most notable one and therefore should be the main one (BP:UCS). ~ CJC 20:15, August 7, 2012 (UTC)
  • Yeah, it was bugging me typing in the (Ninjago) every time I wanted the Jay page. Tagged the page with {{OtherPage}} though. NovaHawk 23:05, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

Football Player (Minifigures), move to "Football Player"[edit source]

  • Move. We don't have a page called "Football Player", it's the only minifigure officially referred to as a "Football Player", why not have it there? NovaHawk 01:10, August 18, 2012 (UTC)
  • Done, UCS. It is the only 'Football Player'. User:UltrasonicNXT/Signature
The following section is preserved as an archive. Please do not modify it. The result was Keep at Mandalorian

Mandalorian, move to "Death Watch"

These are the Death watch - not the Mandalorians. The Death Watch were a splinter group, violent and very different from the Mandos. Jango Fett and Boba Fett are True Mandalorians. I suggest this page be renamed to "Death Watch" and a "Mandalorian" page be created for Jango and Boba. Jeyo Lord VladekTalk The Forge

I'll admit, Mandalorians and Yuuzhan Vong are my biggest two weak areas in knowledge about major galactic factions, so I'm not 100% set on my vote. In my opinion, I think it should stay as Mandalorian- to me, Death Watch, while it is a spinter group, I still think still falls under the "Mandalorian" umbrella, along with the True Mandalorians, New Mandalorians, Mandalorian Supercommandos, and who knows what else. From BP:NC: For minifigures from a licensed theme, minifigures should be given the name that they are given on any official LEGO website, box or other official LEGO material, unless the name clearly contradicts the name of the character is meant to represent (it's obviously the bit in bold we're discussing). I just don't think it's a large enough contradiction personally. NovaHawk 05:05, August 29, 2012 (UTC)
Well, for a bit of background on the history of the Death Watch, they broke off from the Mandalorians and basically declared war on them, ending when the Death Watch framed the Mandos for a massacre and brought the Jedi to help them get rid of the "Mandalorian threat". That's why Jango and Boba were the only Mandos left for a time: the Jedi exterminated them. I would call that a clear contradiction of the character of the Death Watch, yes. As for the True Mandalorians and the Supercommandos, they are both part of the same faction and both fall under the category "Mandalorian". The New Mandalorians is a term made up for the Clone Wars and directly contradicts everything in the Mandalorian nature. The Wookiepedia pages, if you wish to see them, are here:

Jeyo Lord VladekTalk The Forge
Keep. LEGO never refers to them as Death Watch, so, we shouldn't. Last year we had this problem with others but we use whatever name LEGO uses. So, keep as Mandalorian. --User:CzechMate/czech 05:24, August 29, 2012 (UTC)
The thing is, no matter what LEGO calls them, they aren't Mandalorians. They are the Mandalorians' worst enemy. Jeyo Lord VladekTalk The Forge
We use LEGO's name for them, and they are from Mandalore (most of the time) --User:CzechMate/czech 05:40, August 29, 2012 (UTC)
Per NBS and that ^ Berrybrick 16:35, August 29, 2012 (UTC)
Per Jeyo. I've seen a lot of faulty links, such as something like "Jango's parents were killed by the Death Watch, and he was rescued by the "true mandalorians" which links to the death watch. User:ErkelonJay/sig

Alexis Sinister, move to "Alexia Sinister"[edit source]

The last discussion on this didn't end too well, missed important information, and got some information wrong entirely. So let's just start over on this, and have a nice, mature discussion, okay? :)

So, here's a breakdown of this character's various names, and where each one was used.

  • Alexia Sinister: Her North American name, used in LEGO Mania Magazine, LEGO catalogs, etc, all that sort of stuff. Her primary name, and really the only name that isn't on shaky ground.
  • Alexia Sanister: In LEGO Racers 2, for some reason, both Sam Sinister and Alexia Sinister had their last names spelled as "Sanister". I noticed that in the previous discussion on this, people were saying her first name in LEGO Racers 2 was Alexis, but when I went in-game to check it out myself...
... She was named Alexia. And yes, I was playing on an unmodified copy of the game, a fresh installation. So I'm not really sure where the whole "Alexis in LR2" thing came from. If, for some bizarre reason, your copy of LEGO Racers 2 calls her Alexis, please post a screenshot.
  • Alexis Gluipstra: According to somebody on Lugnet, this was her name in the Netherlands. Unconfirmed, and certainly not an option as this wiki uses North American names whenever possible, but still worth mentioning in my opinion. http://news.lugnet.com/adventurers/?n=1156

"Alexia" is the most widely spread name from all the sources I've seen so far, with "Alexis" only being used in an error-ridden book and possibly the Netherlands. If anybody has information I may have missed - such as a confirmation of what her name was in the Netherlands - please post it. Otherwise, I say we should move this page back to "Alexia Sinister". Thanks! Jamesster.LEGO (talk) 17:29, 9/11/2012

  • Move

. I thought LR2 said Alexis, but if I imagined it that reinforces my vote. I'll try to check later. --TheLairOfRockwhales 20:03, September 11, 2012 (UTC)

  • Yes ~ CJC 20:50, September 11, 2012 (UTC)

Sam Sinister, move to "Slyboots"[edit source]

See Talk:Sam Sinister for a full explanation. In short, Sam Sinister was an old name for this character that was later given to a different character (see Lord Sam Sinister), and his current name is Slyboots.

Discussion[edit source]

  • Move, but emphasize the name change; he was still called Sam Sinister as late as 2002 in some media --TheLairOfRockwhales 20:49, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
  • Move per Lair ~ CJC
  • Move I've noticed this too. TLG have sort of changed his name in certain media and sets with the confusion of Barron Von Baron or Sam Sinister in Orient Expedition? It confuses the heck out out of me, but changing it to Slyboots may help. -User:Power Jim/sigcode 04:25, November 5, 2012 (UTC)

Gollum/Sméagol[edit source]

  • For the whole Gollum/Sméagol thing, are we going to take the Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker route, or just keep them on the same page? NovaHawk 22:59, September 14, 2012 (UTC)
  • I would say keep it on the same page; Sméagol has very little screen time and hasn't even been released as a minifigure.
  • Per above, yet they are almost different characters, like Anakin and Vader. Berrybrick 19:27, September 25, 2012 (UTC)
  • keep| You are not right, my Preciousssssssss. We are still the same persons. One part of us is Smeagol, and the other part is gollum, gollum, but we have the same body. Who else has the same body, but two pages? Smeagol
  • Darth Vader/Anikan Skywalker, Bruce Wayne/Batman, Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Tony Stark/Iron Man, Clark Kent/Superman, Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn, Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Rick Jones/A-Bomb...do you want me to keep going? Berrybrick (talk) 00:27, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
