Merlin Entertainments is hoping to build more LEGOLAND parks in the US and Asia, after the success of The LEGO Movie helped boost their profits in the first half of the year. Merlin, the second largest visitor attractions operator in the world after Disney, has a large foothold in the British and central European markets thanks to brands such as LEGOLAND, Madame Tussauds and Sea-Life, as well as its other resort parks, is looking to expand into other markets.

Part of this involves more LEGOLAND parks, after the success of Florida and Malaysia, with the Korea project said to be close to completion, as well as sites being looked at in China and a park on the American north eastern seaboard, said to be LEGO's largest market, being narrowed down to two possible locations.

LEGOLAND Dubai is back on the table too, after a deal with third parties to help fund it, and is heading for a 2016 opening, while LEGOLAND Japan is set to be opened in Nagoya in 2017 Q2. Merlin believe there is an opportunity for up to 20 LEGOLAND parks worldwide.

In lighter LEGOLAND news, the Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark, and their children visited LEGOLAND Billund the other day. The Daily Mail has both pictures and a divided comments section, who can't agree on whether Princess Mary is better than Princess Kate or whether she is about to get divorced. You know, sometimes I'm happy these articles I write here only get two comments...

That being said, do comment on where you want to see a LEGOLAND park.

I assume that, if they do get 20, you'll get one, but probably not a high priority - unlike say China (maybe Hong Kong), Japan, Korea or US, all of which will have higher population densities and higher potential markets.

Just anywhere in western Canada (or, heck, just make it Canada...) would be nice.

Fingers crossed on a Philadelphia-area location! Oh what am I saying, I'll be out of my house by the time it's built anyways. ;_;

Move here to Stafford, Virginia. Merlin's been here several times over the past several years surveying the land for a possible LEGOLAND.

I would really love one in Norway, but we have one in Denmark, so. :P

Do we know where those two possible locations on the northeastern seaboard are? Just wondering if it is anywhere I might actually be able to travel to. :P

My guess is one would be near NYC. Others would perhaps be Boston or Philadelphia.

Eh, maybe I'll get around to one of those cities in 10 years (though it'll probably take them about that long to build it).

(Actually, Boston would be about as close to perfect as it could get for me. :P )

My guesses are just based on population though, but I imagine it would probably be within an hour of a major city.
