Jordan Reichek, producer of the Mixels TV series, has confirmed that Mixels will be discontinued in 2017, meaning that Series 9 will be the last we will see of the theme. This news comes exactly one month after it was announced that BIONICLE was being discontinued.

Thanks to Brickset for the news.

My son is a big Lego fan and we often buy him the mixels as a reward for doing well at school, it is a reasonable price. I hope they will replace them with something of a similar ilk and cost. Until I read the comments below I didn't realise it was a TV theme - we will have to check that out before they are discontinued.

Shame...Mixels is by far the most "creative" of lego themes that Ive encountered, in terms of design, parts usage and building techniques

Oh and out of curiosity, what would Mixel's successor be? For example HF was Bionicles successor, and Bionicle was (ironically) HF's successor and so on..

Nothing has been leaked yet, but it'll be interesting what else they can fit in those bags. I'm not even sure if they will have a successor if mixels wasn't successful enough, what's better than wacky characters for kids and parts for AFOLs?

The recent pirate-themed wave did use plenty of gold parts as highlights, but yea I do see what u mean..

Hm... Can't say that I saw that coming, but the lack of interest on the TV side of things really was evident. These other CN-licensed themes just don't hold up like Ninjago has. Mixels introduced quite a few new moulds/parts in specific colours and it's a bit sad to the possibilities with that go away.
