Squirrel Girl is the alias of Doreen Green. She's a mutant that possesses various squirrel-relate powers. Because of the corny getup and theme, her enemies often underestimate her surprisingly powerful abilities. This has allowed her to battle and defeat some of the more powerful villains in existence, such as Thanos.
Background
Squirrel Girl first appeared alongside Iron Man. Hoping to impress the hero enough to become his sidekick, she showcased her abilities. Unimpressed, Iron Man turned her down. She eventually proved herself by defeating Doctor Doom, but Iron Man still didn't think a girl of her age should be fighting crime.
She eventually joined the Great Lakes Avengers, but left them because she thought they had potential they'd be wasting if she were there.
