Refreshed Redesign April 2014.png

So ToaMeiko thinks the Refreshed skin should be, as it were, refreshed (:P). Here's a little screenshot of maybe what it might look like. However, it is very important that it is not us, the developers, that make the choices about refreshed, but you guys. Are there any bits of Refreshed you think need re-doing? UltrasonicNXT (talk)

Obviously looks strange at first, but I'm sure I'd (by which I mean people) would get used to it. I like the wider space better than I thought when imagining it in my head, and the relocation of the edit, history and stuff are much more intuitive. Pretty indifferent on the top-bar changes. One question: Where is search? CJC95 (talk) 20:12, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
There will be a search button up near the top-right. On clicking it, it will drop down a search bar, similar to how it is on http://www.mashable.com. This will not only save some header space, but will work better on tablets or mobile screen resolutions. --ToaMeiko (talk) 20:14, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
Or (discussing in chat), there will be a search input, similar size to as it is now, on desktop resolutions, (where there is lots of room in the header), that will collapse to a little button as Meiko describes. UltrasonicNXT (talk)
  • Good to hear the community's actually getting some input on this one- they way it seemed to go straight from proposal to policy so you're getting the changes whether you like it or not seemed a lot like the old days of Wikia. Anyway, I like it, but I thought the purpose of Refreshed was to be unique and well, Refreshing. This kinda looks to me like Deep Sea with a couple of drop-down menus instead of uncollapsed navbars. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I guess I don't really have a very strong opinion about it because I don't use it. But I do think a wider range of opinions should be collected than just the small fraction of people who read forums on only one of the wikis affected, and the small fraction of those people who actually bother to write something down- something like a survey linked in every site's sitenotice, links to a survey pasted on social media, etc... I just don't see what research has led to the conclusions like "Refreshed currently has two sidebars (right & left); this is unorganised and confusing", and just hope that these are actually informed conclusions and that there is actually a need to change it.
