SHIELD Car, Assembled[edit | edit source]
I picked this up with a couple of other Avengers sets, and thought it was time for another review, so here it goes.
The car[edit | edit source]
Overall, the car is nicely designed, and looks pretty accurate to the one in The Avengers from what I remember. It has opening doors, which is probably expected these days but always good to see nevertheless, side rails on the back, and the roof can be easily taken off to sit a minifigure inside. On the back is a catapult-like feature, which allows for a minifigure standing on it to be flung off the back of the car. Other details include a fire extinguisher (why I'm not sure- there's one in 6868 Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout as well), also the four headlights on top are simple in their design but look great. And of course, no car would be complete without two flick-fire missiles. Personally, I don't mind flick-fire missiles, but these two do get in the way of the doors opening if they aren't angled vertically/diagonally. Another feature is the back window which could fold outwards from the top, but the catapult is in the way so it can't actually do this, so it baffles be slightly as to why they didn't just put in a fixed window. Stickers are used on the car, which is always for me a bad thing when compared to printed parts, but the SHIELD logos and writing do really help to make the car look like a nice, Avengers-related vehicle.
The minifigures[edit | edit source]
Iron Man - What can I say? I've looked forward to getting him from the beginning, and he looks even better in real life. The leg and torso design along with the shiny gold looks amazing, and although people were worried about the helmet, I think it looks great. The only downside is the two helmet parts were in a little plastic bag which implies Chinese parts, let's just hope that LEGO did fix their quality of those parts and my life doesn't get ruined by the helmet breaking. Stark's face is also simple but nicely done, and has the right amount of detail for me. Iron Man comes with four accessories- two studs for repulsors, and two cylindrical 1x1x1 pieces for jets. I think it's a good use of some very common parts, and they're easy to add/remove. The only slight problem is posing the minifigure so he's shooting his repulsors forward at an enemy, but that's just the design of the minifigure, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Loki - I guess he's OK. The torso and legs look like good representations of what Loki was wearing. However I just don't really think the face captures Loki too well, I don't really know why. The helmet, again, was in a Chinese bag, and it's got a rubbery feel to it which I don't really like- LEGO should always be plastic in my opinion (apart from rubbers bands, etc of course). He has two accessories- a staff, which looks great but I don't think is very accurate to the films, and what's meant to be the Cosmic Cube, which I don't really get because I was sure it was blue when I saw The Avengers.
Hawkeye - Again, a great representation of a superhero, complete with double-sided head, leg and back torso printing, and having a new bow piece is a big plus. Maybe a new quiver to go with the bow would have been nice instead of it just being printed on the back, but that's just probably me demanding too much.

- Summary
If you're after Iron Man, I'd recommend you get this set, otherwise, you could probably pass on it. While the car is pretty nice, at the end of the day, it is just a car, and not exactly an iconic model. It does have the potential for good playability, but I do feel that a Maria Hill (or even a Nick Fury) would have made the set feel much more complete due to the events of the movie. All in all, a good set, but apart from Iron Man, nothing groundbreaking.
