General Info[edit | edit source]

Box[edit | edit source]

70313-box.png

The Box itself is a simple and basic design, nothing new here. The box art is brightly colored, with the large Nexo Knights logo above the set, with Moltor and his vehicle at the center, which appear to be barreling toward Aaron on his hovershield, with the Book of Chaos floating in the center. Below, Jestro is depicted holding open the Book of Monsters, and next to him are pictures of the two minifigures included. In the right bottom corner, the one Nexo Power included is shown, Rolling Fireball, which can be scanned and used in the Nexo Knights app.

Interesting Pieces[edit | edit source]

The set is predominantly Dark Brown, Black, Red, and translucent orange. It includes two stickers, one on the bottom jaw at the front of the vehicle, and one on the otherwise blank black Nexo Power piece, pictured above. Also, two black 2m axles are included, though for no particular reason, since both are completely hidden in the finished build.

Build[edit | edit source]

Fairly simple and straightforward, if you've built other vehicles from medium scale sets, it isn't much different. Low difficulty, but the function was fun to put together.

Minifigs and Accessories[edit | edit source]

The minifig selection in this set is very nice. It includes two minifigs, as mentioned before. Moltor, the operator of the vehicle, who is black with cracking lava patters on him and brown armor and fists. Aaron comes with his crossbow and Nexo Shield. The Crossbow is a bit too large for him to hold on his own without additional support, so I recommend having him stand on his shield and lean back. The crossbow is a new mold and fires new projectiles, and an extra projectile is included on the back of his armor, which is also a new mold. Even The Book of Chaos included and is also a new mold, which features a trans brown cover with a skull printed on it, gold back cover, and a page inside depicting two Scurriers. Unfortunately, no Scurriers are included in the set.

Finished Model[edit | edit source]

The completed set is very fun to play with. the two arms toward the front move up and down as the set is rolled around. Although on a flat surface they never actually touch the ground, they come very close to it, and I can imagine a lot of kids having fun playing with this set. On each side of Moltor is a small catapult, which I imagine Moltor would punch with his large fists to launch the projectiles. I appreciate that they included a character that flies in the set, it almost makes up for them not having a vehicle, which in the past in many other sets they have included a character who is usually on foot, and the fight seems very unmatched. Having a flight based character in a set like this is a good touch. The vehicle also has a face on the front, and it can open and close its jaws a little bit, so it adds some more personality to the vehicle.

Final Thoughts[edit | edit source]

I think this is a good set. I admit that I am a sucker for sets with silly functions like this, I find them very enjoyable. This is a fairly small set, and it does its job as intended as a gimmick set. If I were to have any gripes about it, all I would say is that the grey control panel and rocket at the back don't really match the set's feel as a rocky volcanic monster vehicle. Also, the grey technic poles that hold the arms on stand out a bit, and would've looked better in black. Possibly a small vehicle for Aaron would've been nice too, but as I said before, I don't mind them not including one because he is a flight-based character. Those are only minor complaints though, and my opinion of this set is unwavering. Children would have a fun time playing with it, and I feel that it is a well balanced and successful set. I would recommend buying it.

My favourite Nexo Knights set! Seriously Aaorn is in all the good sets ;(

Nice short and sweet review. I didn't realize there was two catapults included in the set, thanks for pointing that out!
