Hello everybody! Today I'm reviewing 70754 ElectroMech, one of the new Ninjago 2015 sets. At $20 USD(also AUD) it is one of the smaller Ninjago sets of the new wave. So, is this set worth picking up?
Box[edit | edit source]
The front of the box shows the ElectroMech in an action pose fighting off Chope. The back shows off the features of the set, plus animated images of the minifigures included and another action pose.
Minifigures[edit | edit source]
The two minifigures included are Jay in his tournament outfit and Chope.
Jay
This version of Jay features his outfit that he wore in the tournament of elements. The outfit looks really nice with the black banner over the blue vest. The exposed arms really give the figure some character. While this new version is good, in my opinion it's not the best (that title goes to the 2013 version).
In my opinion, the ninja's outfits have been getting less "ninja-like" over the years. If you looked at the first version (left in the
picture) you'd be able to tell that it's a ninja, but the versions on the right... not so much. I'm glad that the jungle suits (and this year's sets in general) go back to the roots of the theme.
Chope
Chope is one of the new characters introduced this year. He is one of Chen's Anacondrai cultists. The figure is really nice with lots of intricate printing, especially on the face. The purple snake tattoos that these cultists have really add to the cultist feel. The best part of this figure definitely has to be the snake skull helmet. It's designed beautifully, except for the fact that it's a rubber piece and not ABS.
Overall, the figures included in this set are good. They also come with some neat weapons (including a Jade Blade!). But enough on the figures...
The Build[edit | edit source]
The first build included in the set is a little turret for Chope. It's a very straightforward build and has a lot of applications. I don't have anything bad to say about it.
