The Speeder[edit | edit source]

The speeder.

This model appears to be based on a Rendili Watchman or a Rendili Protector. It seems to do a good job of representing the speeder, and I have no complaints about it. Yes, there are two stickers on the front (and I hate stickers) but I don't think it could have been done any other way, and it does make the speeder look much better with them on. The speeder's armed with two flick-fire missiles, and having a clip in the centre for the Sith Trooper's blaster pistol is a nice touch. The mount for the flick-fire missiles is an interesting piece I don't believe I've seen before. It's a 2 x 1 piece, but instead of having two studs on top, it has one, with the other half of the piece having a ring that a Technic pin can fit into (or in this case a flick-fire missile). It does a good job of positioning the missile well, and I think we'll see these pieces used much more widely in the future. The build itself is pretty unremarkable, and seemed like a much shorter build than the Forward Command Center in 75000.

The Republic Troopers[edit | edit source]

The Republic Trooper with a chaingun.

The Republic Troopers look amazing. The detailing on the torso, back, legs and helmet all come together to make a figure that looks great, and hope to see more of them in future sets. The fact that only one Trooper is assigned a face in the instruction books is a little confusing, but I think that it is fairly clear as to what face each minifigure should have, and the fact that it isn't specifically stated means that people can make up their own mind about what faces to use, which some may like. The only complaint I have about the minifigure is the helmet- the back leaves a very large gap, and you can see pretty much the entire back of the head, as can be seen here. Of course you can ignore it, but it does make an otherwise "perfect" minifigure just "very good". Also worth noting- I think the two-handed blasters have been developed to a point that can't really be improved upon. Sure, you can't really move the chaingun around much, but at least the handles are positioned correctly- one at the back, one on top, as opposed to the one at the back, one on the side approach as used for Jace Malcom.

The Sith Troopers[edit | edit source]

The red Sith Trooper (This particular image doesn't really do it justice, but it's the only one I could find).

I could go on about the Sith Troopers, but I can't really see a need to- they're flawless. The only I could suggest would be Sith Empire markings on the arms, but that's probably a bit excessive. The original black Sith Trooper was a great minifigure, but with the leg printing in these new ones, it's raised it to a higher level. Now I just wish I knew who the red Sith troopers actually were (the only reference to them that I can find being this image on Wookieepedia).

Overall[edit | edit source]

The battle pack is well-balanced: the Republic has heavier weapons, but the Sith have a speeder. However, as the speeder has just 39 pieces (total piececount of 63, and 24 parts used on minifigures), the set is a little short on parts- a small gun platform or something would have been nice. I'd recommend getting it only if you were after the minifigures (which I believe most people are with battle packs), and apart from one complaint about the Republic Trooper's head, are faultless and couldn't be happier with them. Overall though, a solid battle pack, and I'm looking forward to seeing more from The Old Republic line.

Comparison to 75000[edit | edit source]

Compared to the other battle pack, I would say that this set has better minifigures (don't get me wrong, the clones are great, and if there were four clones, I may reconsider), but the other battle back has a much better model with the Forward Command Center, mainly because it seems a bit larger, and is based on something a bit more interesting to me.
