Hello, thanks for reading! Today I'm reviewing 79000 Riddles for the Ring. This is the smallest The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey set. It's also the only one to feature Gollum, but I'll get to that later.

The Box[edit | edit source]

This box, because the set was so small, was hand sized. There was a small punch-in that allowed me to peel back the lid, and pour out the contents. While doing this, I accidentally ripped the box rendering it unusable. I probably would not have been able to use it again anyways, but I like to be optimistic.

The Instructions[edit | edit source]

Well, this got annoying. Because the box was so small, the instructions were rolled up, so I had to read them like a scroll or something. Most of the time I spent on this set was actually time spent looking for something heavy enough to hold the instruction manual flat.

The Build[edit | edit source]

While this set isn't the hardest set that I've ever built, I still found it challenging. Mainly because I would be trying to place a piece, only to have my hands break off another two. After finishing the set, I placed it on my desk along with the Gollum figure, where they both sit today.

The Minifigures[edit | edit source]

I am really happy with the Gollum figure! He's my favorite character from The Lord of the Rings and he makes me laugh so hard for no reason at all. I can't describe how happy I am with this figure. I don't care much for Bilbo, but I might use his torso piece for some Doctor Who character in the future...

The Model[edit | edit source]

The finished set looks pretty good. I immediately recognized which rock in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey movie this set was based on. I'm happy with the way that the finished product turned out.

Conclusion[edit | edit source]

I'm happy with the way the model turned out. I wasn't expecting too much and it didn't surprise me.

Here's how I'd rate it:

Build: Because the set is so small, some of the pieces are hard to put together. It looks pretty accurate compared to the movie, so I can't give this a bad grade.

Playability: Although this set had a nice rock model, it's best assets are the two minifigures, Gollum and Bilbo Baggins. I really only bought this set for the Gollum minifigure though. In my opinion, I can't really do anything with the rock. Unless it was part of a Batcave. Any part of the Batcave becomes instantly cool.

Parts: I have nothing to say here. There weren't any really good parts. They just... fit together well.

Price: Yes, this is a very small set, but they charged way too much.

Overall: To finish up, it's okay. Just okay.
