Review:9515 The Malevolence
I got this behemoth for Christmas, and it never ceases to amaze. I can't say I like the scale, but it's a good display. VERY nice UCS set if it was one, sadly it isn't.
Well, here we go: Details!
So like I said, the scale is weak. The figures would each be about 400 meters tall if it was real, and the windows are just stickers, but the set is 27 inches long and packs quite a punch. The outside view is amazing, and if you forget the sticker "windows", then you have an epic display. We have the ion cannon which actually is a faithful representation (it actually does fire, six on each side so 12 shots!) of the real one although it's not purple. The colors of the Malevolence are very well put, and seem to be as perfect as bricks can make them.
Next up I guess I'll do minifigs. The Padmé Amidala figure was new and exclusive, it's actually better out of the box than on art. The eyes and face are immaculate, as is hair, and the clothes are good too. Next is the redesigned Battle Droid Commander. This unit is pretty cool-looking with the special markings, but that's the only thing to set it apart from its Battle Droid counterpart. The battle droid is just regular but does work well in armies, your Commander could be the leader. The Anakin Skywalker isn't good since he didn't have new suit yet and this is the second suit. But who cares? It's a good fig except I've always hated the face. General Grievous is extraordinary with his sabers and paint, LEGO really did it this time with the amazing fig. Definitely would I recommend him to you. Count Dooku is average, his saber being good and exclusive. I'd say he's not a bad fig.
Playability is bad, I'd say it's too small for this kind of stuff, and the figs can barely fit! Figs best used outside the set.
Value for Money depends. It's a great display but has nearly no playability.
I would recommend it to a displayer, not kids.
