User blog:Latenightguy/Random Thoughts
Well, it has been awhile...
I believe the last blog I made was for ToyFair 2015 or so, after which I resided to editing exclusively. Recently, I have tried to make an effort to do other things, such as reviews, and will try to make more analysis blogs (ToyFair 2017?). Yes, I realize that this is not the most appropriate time, with the problems and lack of people, but I have been inspired. So, I will be continuing to make LEGO Batman Movie set reviews, with one to be published this weekend. Now: the rambling.
I have never felt a strong collecting urge for any theme, except Minecraft and Super Heroes, and that has changed recently. Last summer, I was adamant to receive these two themes in their entirety, searching retailers for deals and discounts. But, as time has passed, the feeling is lost. I look at the Minecraft sets that reviewers say are decent and find them to be bland. My former desire to collect the minifigures is gone and I seem to like only one set, specifically for the build. Even my love for the Super Heroes sets is diminished, though the sets so far are not anything notable. The one thing that has kept me zoned in on LEGO for the past few months has been The LEGO Batman Movie. Similar to the original, a new film just brings a sense of glee, preventing a Dark Age while it lasts. Viewing the first wave, the builds and minifigures are just so...great. These are not like the other superhero sets that depends on its figures. 70911 The Penguin Arctic Roller, despite having 2 minifigures, appeals to me through its excellent part use and design. Maybe it's just my acculturation in the LEGO world, but I feel as if this line brings others to shame. I realize that new molds and parts should not be introduced at the pace of the film themes, but if designers have been able to create nice vehicles and builds, why might they be restricted from other streamlined themes? I am not a fan, but I have heard that Star Wars suffers greatly from lesser sets, something that should seemingly receive more attention in at least the UCS realm. Though, in hindsight, if this were the case, some FOLs may not be as happy with a greater selection. I am already feeling the overwhelming desire to purchase some of the more expensive sets, yet I am still content with what I have amassed. Hopefully, I will be able to expand my light box to accommodate the Batcave and have an actual sense of builds and design techniques. Maybe I will take group shots with the villains; perhaps I will make some customs, I do not know.
Alas, thank you for reading this far,

(P.S. These are just random thoughts, so they are fairly rhetorical and unedited.)
(P.P.S. If there are any sets that you would like me to review specifically in the LEGO Batman Movie line, or even some future suggestions, just find me in Chat!)
(P.P.P.S. I was not expecting this to go this far...But, I forgot to mention that I would be happy to be an asset to Brickipedia as a coder/programmer/etc. So, if we really require another person to help, I am willing to learn.)
