User blog:Latenightguy/ToyFair 2015 Opinions: Licensed Themes
Hello and welcome to my first blog post! To start off, I will be speaking of my opinion on many of the licensed sets revealed at ToyFair.
DC/Marvel Superheroes: The confirmation of the two Spider-Man sets and the Ant-Man set was rather interesting. Truly, LEGO seems to be looking at the forums, releasing Miles Morales Spider-Man, Carnage, AND Iron Spider! I honestly thought these figures would never even be considered, but it is all grand. Based on the observations, the sets seem to include a great array of builds and figures alongside them, not to mention the also extravagant Avengers: Age of Ultron sets.
News of no Killer Croc is rather frustrating to me, as all of the evidence pointed towards such a great big-figure, but alas. Regardless, the news of Deathstroke and the two Teen Titans equally makes up for such things. If the Deathstroke set is to include a "Bat-Boat" of sorts, and NO Scuba Batman, I think many will enjoy it, as we have only received one true "Bat-Boat" in 7780, the only other set with Killer Croc... With the Jokerland set, I am truly hoping that a few of the figures will have a New 52 variant, such as Harley Quinn, or even a 1970s variant for The Penguin. The build sounds rather favorable, though only the pictures will tell.
Minecraft: This theme is a rather generic theme after the first few sets, despite having all but one, though The Nether and The Snow Hideout sound intriguing with the various new mobs included. Besides these two, this wave appears to be rather bland.
Jurassic World: My fondness towards the Jurassic Park legacy oddly does not affect my opinion upon these sets. I honestly think this theme is a licensed remake of Dino and will likely be repetitive to such previous themes. But, if I were to choose the sets that I would recommend to another, I would say the lab with D-Rex (75919) and Chris Pratt's raptor attack (75917), solely for sheer interest.
Scooby-Doo: I was pleasantly suprised by LEGO's approach towards Scooby-Doo, creating many molds to increase the accuracy, along with avoiding Simpsons heads or Clone Wars eyes. The Mystery Machine will be an instant favorite for all fans, including myself, though to retrieve the entire Mystery Gang, you must all purchase the Mystery Mansion, an improved version of the Vampyre Castle from Monster Fighters. Overall, I believe this was the greatest reveal of the entire event!
