User blog:ToaMeiko/Creator sets available to review

From Brickipedia, the LEGO Wiki

The LEGO Group has been kind enough to offer us 3 Creator sets to review, free of charge. I'd like to open this opportunity for any of our members to review any of these 3 sets for Brickipedia:

If you would like to review one or more of these sets, please reply below. I will need your shipping information (name, address, contact phone number) before March 26. To send me this information you can private message me on chat or email me directly.

To ensure these sets get quality reviews, it would be helpful if anyone interested in reviewing any of these sets can show a previous set review they've done (can be here, on Wikia, or anywhere else). This is simply to make sure that these sets don't get a "low quality" review for something we're being offered free of charge.

I know I'm not around much anymore, but I could review Rainforest animals. I have done reviews before on Wikia (http://lego....er_Empire791), but what I want to know is if this has to be a written review? I could do a video review of the set, and post it on the Brickimedia youtube channel. Otherwise i'd just write a normal LEGO review.

As I answered your question on Skype but not here, I'll copy what I responded to you there:

"You could try [a video review]. Take pics as you open the set and build it just in case the video ends up not working or whatever. Then when you're done with it, upload it to YouTube as unlisted or private so I can see it and see if it meets expectations/requirements. If so, publish it, if not, fix whatever issues are with it or fallback to a written review."

Your absence won't affect your ability to write a review in a short time frame will it?

Dumb question- are LEGO setting this aside specifically for us to do reviews of them, or can we use them for whatever we like (raffles, contest prizes, etc)? Just wondering for next time, because we don't seem to be getting any volunteers for reviews, maybe something different might work.

Either way, very generous of LEGO to be giving away all these sets for free :)

For these free-of-charge offers they want reviews of them for the design team to be able to also see.

Could this be open to anyone with 10 ms edits? I could advertise that on the Facebooks and elsewhere.

I'd rather not; people would be more inclined to spam edits rather than constructively contributing, which would also mean their review probably wouldn't be great.

Yeah, but last time we didn't even get three people to send the sets to. I doubt it will be different this time.

Who's to say they won't just "run off" with the set?

(Also, weren't you supposed to get one of those sets Ajr?)

Nothing. But if it is either that or not getting it in the first place, then might as well use it to try and drum up some interest.

And yeah, I got one of the last ones. Review incoming this weekend after I finish a paper :)

I would rather not get the sets than risk someone running off with them. What will it say to LEGO if we're irresponsible with their "gifts."

(as for your review, I look forward to it :) who got the third set?)

Nobody got the third one... that's the point lol. I'm not sure how closely TLG monitors how we use the sets. @Meiko?

Kim asks me to send him links to our reviews after they're published, in which he forwards them to the design team for that particular theme. :)

O More sets already? This is why I say LEGO is one of the best companies in the world :P
Considering I just got one of the classic sets and I've asked for the Kwik-E-Mart, I think I'll pass on this. However, if no one else wants to do it you have my details :)
