User blog:UltrasonicNXT/World Cup Sweepstake!

Is world cup fever gripping your city..?

It's a little bit late, but I see no reason why we can't have a world cup sweepstake now!

Everyone who signs up will be randomly allocated a country. The person who has the winning country wins! I will also think up some other prizes for other countries.

I will make the draw on Wednesday the 18th, after the first round of group matches. Instead of drawing from the whole 32 countries, I will draw from the top ranked countries in the world (from the FIFA world rankings), so that the winer will hopefully be drawn. Depending on the amount of users, each user will have 2, or possibly 3 countries.

To sign up, comment in the comments section!

So in the end, TheNightingale wins it, pulling away from Nova right at the end, thanks to Germany's win in the final over Argentina.

(I decided not to include the 3/4 match, as the table works nicely as it is :p)

If only there was a third place, I would've won :P

I thought Czech was going to win from the start... but that was because of Brazil not Germany :D

After the round of 16, CJC and Nexus now have none of their teams left in the competition, with CJC claiming the prize for bottom place :( Me, Nova, and Nightingale still have 2 teams left each, and we're all within a point of each other!

I still can't pull ahead :P Although, I think Czech and I might take you out both your teams in the quarters :O

How many points does the winner get? Or do both finalists just both get 8 (and does third place get anything special?)

Nah, those points are just for the winner in that round (so the winner gets 8, while the runner-up just gets the 6 from winning the semi). Hmm, yes, I should give something for the third place finisher, maybe 4.

Now we have the group stages behind us, Nexus and TheNightingale both have all their teams through, me and Nova 2 out of our 3 through, and CJC just one. Me and Nova in the lead, but it can all change quickly now! (I've added the scores I'll give for each match to the table)

So, my only hope is Chile, who play Brazil, so lets just count me out now...

Done the draw (well I did it when planned, but due to the downtime, there's obviously been a delay).

To me, looks like it's looking good for TheNightingale, while Nexus has been a bit unlucky.

I'm going to convert it into a system where you get points for each of your teams winning, so it's not just the winner that wins.

Well, considering both have lost their games and are out, in terms of points they are equally bad :P

You could draw multiple teams per person (2 or 3) depending on how many sign up.
