Bruce Banner is a MARVEL comics character.
Background
Bruce Banner is the alter ego of The Hulk. Banner became the Hulk when he was helping test the military's newest prototype weapon, a gamma bomb. During the countdown, Bruce saw a teenage boy in his car unwittingly drive into the test site during the countdown. Banner ran outside and pushed the teenager, Rick Jones, out of the way of the explosion, taking the brunt of it himself. The gamma radiation entered his blood stream and changed his DNA. Because of this, whenever he gets angry, he becomes an angry, big, green monster with enhanced strength, enhanced agility, enhanced stamina, and a healing factor. Rick Jones became his companion, and he joined the Avengers. He would leave and re-join the group several times in the future. He has multiple personalities as Hulk, his current one being Doc Green. The general who was over seeing the gamma bomb test was General Ross, who is constantly pursuing the Hulk. Bruce is also deeply in love with Ross' daughter, Betty.
