Jungle Rescue is a jungle-themed subtheme of Friends released in 2014. It involves the group of five friends and Matthew rescuing defenseless baby animals.
Description[edit | edit source]
Being a sub-theme of Friends, Jungle Rescue uses the mini-doll figure, which are rescuing baby cartoon-esc shaped animals. The jungle is not based of any real life jungle as lions can not be found in the jungle but they are found here. The theme also puts animals found in different jungles such as tigers and pandas. Even though books and other media depict the parent animals reviving they're rescued child, no adult animals are not present in the sets, besides Romeo and Juliet. Most of the animals are reused from the Friends Animals line with a few re colourings.
The builds in the theme with the exception of the vehicles and the research/rest centre in 41038 Jungle Rescue Base the builds mainly focus on caves, cliffs, and trees. The girls and Matthew usually add to these builds like in 41033 Jungle Falls Rescue Olivia built a place to rest after she rescued the tiger.
The sets feature the friends using a variety of different vehicles for the Friends to use to rescue the animals. In 41032 First Aid Jungle Bike Emma drives a motorcycle. In 40136 Jungle Bridge Rescue two vehicles are utilised, Matthew drives an off-roader while Mia flys a helicopter. Stephanie uses a boat in 41038 Jungle Rescue Base. Andrea and Olivia do not use any vehicles.
The colour schemes of the sets feature a wide range of colours the most prominent between the sets are: Dark Green, Bright Yellowish Green, Reddish Brown, Dark Orange, Medium Stone Grey, Medium Lavender and Bright Purple.
Background[edit | edit source]
Andrea, Emma, Matthew, Mia, Olivia, and Stephanie are taking a summer trip to the jungle. They stay at the Rescue Base where they locate animals in danger. The adults Sophie and Henry were called to an emergency in a neighbouring reserve, so are not present in the sets.
History[edit | edit source]
In an attempt to appeal to more adventurous girls, who thought Friends was too boring or basic, Jungle Rescue was created. The sets are the only ones aimed towards girls, to feature danger at all.

- 41058 Heartlake Shopping Mall appears to take place right before or after the Jungle Rescue sub theme as Sophie is present, and there's advertisements for the Jungle Rescue line.
