Review:76027 Black Manta Deep Sea Strike/Keeffe10
I think I have said before I like the Justice League sets, and this was no exception, so I bought it off of Amazon on Prime Day. One of the things I admire about the set is that it has some good pieces, and is something different to the normal above ground sets.
I had my eye on this set for a few reasons:
- Was on sale for $29.99
- Had 4 Minifigures, and two vehicles, plus an Atlantis themed gate thingy.
So, onto the review.
The Box[edit | edit source]
Interesting size for the box, very large.
Minifigures[edit | edit source]
Four figs, which is good.
Batman[edit | edit source]
The mask is good, and I like the torso, which is GREAT, and you get an extra batarang, which is good. The torso has a nice print, and it has no skin color marks, so you could use it with yellow figures, too. Normal un-printed pants, you'd have thought they'd reuse some from earlier sets.
Black Manta[edit | edit source]
Another new villain with unique torso printing, and a unique helmet. Not too much more to say about him.
Aquaman[edit | edit source]
The hair is good, and I like the torso, which is GREAT, and you get two facial expressions, which is good. The trident is nice, and it has no skin color marks, so you could use it with yellow figures. Normal un-printed pants, exactly the same as his figure in his earlier set.
Robin[edit | edit source]
The hair is included separately, and I like the torso, which is GREAT, and he comes with a pair of flippers, which is good. The torso has nice printing, and it has no skin color marks, so you could use it with yellow figures. It has Normal un-printed pants, red with a black speedo.
The Build[edit | edit source]
Very easy, contained three manuals and five separate numbered piece bags.
The Set[edit | edit source]
Two vehicles, both well made. Additionally, this set has temple ruins that feature a plinth for Black Manta, a holder for Aquaman’s trident, sea plants, and chains.
Bat Sub[edit | edit source]
(I assume this what it is called, but you could call it something else.) Looks good, and nice use of the flick missiles. Very easy to open the top, no other pieces going with it, which is good. The tail part looks good. Only complaint is that there isn't too many good reusable pieces, or any interesting ones.
Sea Saucer[edit | edit source]
This is a good build, and a nice mechanism with the missiles. It's just very, very large. Way too big. Nice cockpit bit for the figure, too. There are also a few other pieces, like the tubes, wings, and a vintage space style window.
Temple ruins and roboshark[edit | edit source]
This is a good build, and a nice shark. It's just not very sturdy. Way too flimsy. Nice prison for Robin, too. There are also a few other pieces, like the seaweed, smaller pillars, and Aquaman's trident.
Overall[edit | edit source]
The only thing I don't like is that it feels somewhat lacking in something - probably play features. I would like to see another vehicle in here, and a few more accessories, but this is pretty good. This is a good set, and actually well priced, $39.99 is about right for a set of this size, and it doesn't seem at all bad.
