Wikiforums[edit source]

Could do with more activity - I guess the main issue is that its hard to keep track of what happens really - they are hard to find themselves and barely show up in RC. CJC95 (talk) 20:33, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

I agree with CJC. Perhaps the forums could be given a more prominent place such as additionally appearing on the homepage. SKP4472 (Admin) 17:21, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
Agreed. -NBP3.0 (talk) 15:12, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
$0.02: I think that forums need to be integrated into the wiki better. I don't think our forums have tags, but they should, that way at the bottom of an article we could have something that says Search for discussions about <Hero Factory> in our forums! I hate this idea because of all the spam something similar generated at wikia, but I don't think we really have to worry about spam right now. :P And besides, it isn't actually showing tidbits of the discussion on the page. • A lot of people are complaining about the wikiforum extension itself (hard to use, some things don't look right, etc). I know there are a few functions that don't work myself (deleting threads for example). I was wondering should we consider switching to a different forum extension- AWC's Forum? • Anyone? --LK901 20:30, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
  • I honestly don't see a need for social forums in general; everyone discusses that kind of stuff in chat, and any good discussion pertaining to news happens in the news comments (which I'm fine with). Maybe more quantity of news posts would be better, so people have a variety of things to discuss in the comments. --ToaMeiko (talk) 20:36, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
  • I disagree. The forums aren't used because they are very basic, and not very user-friendly. While at the moment the majority of discussions happen in chat, I think that a working forum system could help by allowing people to discuss what they would otherwise discuss in chat. Having a working forum system would mean that users could discuss stuff, without being locked to timezones/being online at a certain time etc. The News blogs are nice, but should more frequent (I'm am member so it is partly my fault :P) --LK901 13:20, 29 November 2014 (UTC)

  • I could agree to that, but I don't think that a greater quantity of news reports that people actually care about is likely, unless we start sharing more reviews and doing editorials via the news. We try having news articles for general discussion that don't go on the main page but are linked to in relevant articles, too. Berrybrick (talk) 21:30, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
  • I guess we'd need to "widen" our scope. Have sort of more "discussion threads" or something, post stuff that isn't necessarily "news", like that lego version of the star wars trailer or w/e. CJC95 (talk) 20:34, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
  • You mean things that people might be interested in? As opposed to LEGO starting to make boxes 2% thinner than the competition? Berrybrick (talk) 20:44, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
  • I know it sounds radical, but maybe we should consider it. CJC95 (talk) 20:56, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
  • Personally I'd rather keep news how it is. Posting stuff that isn't really newsworthy could just mean that people would get frustrated and either have to sift through all the junk to find real news, or just give up entirely. NovaHawk 22:45, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
  • (And per LK about everything except for the news stuff :P). NovaHawk 23:15, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
