Review:5918 Scorpion Tracker/LEGO JohnnyThunderFan

From Brickipedia, the LEGO Wiki

This is a great small set.

For a low price of (US)$4.00, you get a vehicle, some scorpions, lots of accessories, a few special parts, and one minifigure.

The car is built using very few pieces, but the car is certainly not small in size. Its main components are a unique engine piece that already has headlights, a windshield that can fold and be adjusted, a cockpit piece with a detailed steering wheel and printed control panel, old-fashioned wheels with tan spokes, and a box for item storage. The engine area has the old-fashioned grill and headlights and looks nice with the tan triangular piece behind it. The cockpit has a steering wheel, lever, foldable windshield, control panel, and a place to store the map behind the seats. All of the different tan parts on the car, including the wheels, make the car really fit in with the other Egypt sets. A total of 2 minifigures can go in the car; actually, 3, if you wanted to squeeze someone in the crate in the back where the weapons and items can be stored.

The minifigure that is included is Johnny Thunder, who is the main protagonist of the whole Adventurers theme, which includes all of the subthemes; Egypt, Jungle, Dino Island, and Orient Expedition.

This set is not only good for the main model and minifigure, but it also comes with a lot of cool items! It comes with 2 scorpions, which seem to be trying to get the map from Johnny. It comes with some tools, too, like a pickaxe, shovel, and binoculars. It even comes with a unique treasure map, one of the four maps that appear in the Egypt subtheme. Finally, it comes with a shotgun/rifle; even though it looks more like a shotgun and was probably modeled after one, some LEGO games refer to it as a rifle, so use your imagination! ;)

The vehicle can also be made into two other models; a longer vehicle with a bigger storage area and a binoculars in front with a lever on the side of the cockpit, and a smaller vehicle which has a hood ornament and uses the crate as a cockpit.

I really love this set. To this day it is regarded as one of my favorite small vehicle sets. I still remember opening it, building it, playing with it for hours, then building the second model and playing with that, and finally the third model and playing with that. Even for a small set, and despite how few pieces are included in it, the set still has a lot of playability, and I'd definitely recommend it.
