User blog:NovaHawk/List of obvious Harry Potter stuff we're missing

From Brickipedia, the LEGO Wiki

Similar to the Star Wars version, I thought it'd be fun to make a list of all the "big" things that are missing in the Harry Potter theme, which will hopefully show up sometime during the 2018 reboot. Leave any suggestions below- it's been a few years since I've watched the movies or read the books, so I'm going to need help with this one!

Please note- if I say "seventh" anywhere, it could refer to the seventh and/or eighth film.

  • Ministry of Magic - major scenes in the fifth and seventh books/films
  • The Three Broomsticks - started appearing from the third book/film onwards
  • The tent/countryside - as in, Hermione's tent they use in the seventh book/film. Maybe something involving Snatchers or (less likely because of how it was portrayed in the film) the Horcrux in the Hufflepuff Cup.
  • The Leaky Cauldon - pretty significant in the first book/film, also had some significant time in the third and made appearances elsewhere too
  • Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes - we did get Fred and George in their work clothes in 10217 Diagon Alley, but never got the shop (plus... this set could be a lot of fun if designed right)
  • Bellatrix's Gringotts Vault - major scene in the seventh book/film
  • Malfoy Manor - Fairly major in the seventh book/film
  • The Lovegood's house - from the seventh book/film
  • 12 Grimmauld Place - Pretty important place from the fifth book onwards
  • Triwizard Maze - Something I've really wanted since the fourth book came out. Personally was a bit disappointed with the lack of Sphinx in the movie, but still could be a great set either way.
Minifigures
  • Anyone wearing a Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff uniform - I mean, come on.
  • Aberforth Dumbledore - pretty significant character in the sixth and seventh books/films
  • Angelina Johnson - Katie Bell, Alicia Spinnet - the rest of the main Gryffindor Quidditch Team, all appeared throughout most of the series. Angelina had a larger presence in the fifth book (not really the film though)
  • Barty Crouch Jr. - major character in the fourth book/film, although spent most of his time disguised as Mad-Eye Moody. (and if they're not going to release a Tenth Doctor, it'd be nice to at least get a face for him)
  • Bill, Charlie and Percy Weasley - all had much larger roles in the books than the films. (plus who wouldn't want a happy face for General Hux?)
  • Cedric Diggory - major character in the fourth book/film
  • Cho Chang - major character in the fifth book/film, also appears in the third book/fourth film onwards
  • Colin Creevey - pretty major character in the second book/film, also appeared later on
  • Cornelius Fudge - appeared in the first five books/films, probably most significantly the second and fifth
  • Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnigan - significant characters throughout the entire series
  • Dudley Dursley - major character throughout the whole series
  • Firenze - significant in the first book/film. Significant book appearance in the fifth book, and appears in later editions (however only appears in the first film)
  • Fleur Delacour - major character in the fourth book/film, also appears in the sixth and seventh
  • Grawp - significant character in the fifth book/film. Also had a presence in later editions
  • Horace Slughorn - significant character from the sixth and seventh books/films
  • Kingsley Shacklebolt - significant character from the fifth book/film onwards
  • Kreacher - significant character in the fifth book/film onwards (books moreso than films)
  • Lavender Brown - appeared throughout the series, most significantly in the sixth (where she was a waste of valuable pages/screen time)
  • Madam Pomfrey - pretty noticeable character who was around since the firsth book/film
  • Madame Maxime - major character in the fourth book (significant-ish in the film)
  • Moaning Myrtle - major character in the second book/film
  • Nearly Headless Nick - significant in the first book/film, and the second and fifth books. Appears in later editions
  • Nymphadora Tonks - pretty major character from the fourth book/film onwards
  • Pansy Parkinson - significant character throughtout the series (moreso in the books than films)
  • Parvati and Padma Patil - both appeared throughout the series, Parvati more significantly than Padma.
  • Petunia Dursley - major character throughout the whole series
  • Pius Thicknesse - significant character in the seventh book (however very minor in the film)
  • Rita Skeeter - pretty major character in the fourth book (also appears in the fourth film, but in a reduced role)
  • Rufus Scrimgeour - significant character in the sixth book/film (probably moreso the book)

Forgot these earlier:

Some characters' houses like Malfoy Manor, the Lovegoods' tower, and Bathilda Bagshot's cottage might be possible playsets. Malfoy Manor was even a sketch model at one point; all of those would probably work better if they were directly tying in to the release of movie 7/8 though, I think, since they aren't particularly iconic. No. 12 Grimauld Place is the one that is really missing.

There was also never a representation of the Fouth Task. That would be the perfect place for Cedric, Fleur, plus maybe Rita and Madame Maxime. Those last two (three?) are probably me being hopeful though. :P

Oh, and Moaning Myrtle with her toilet. :o That might have been in some form in the Chamber of Secrets set, but at least Myrtle herself is missing.

Can't believe I forgot the maze! I remember being really annoyed that that wasn't a set when they released the GoF sets and it's something I was hoping for right up until the end of HP. Grimmauld Place is also a pretty huge omission, never thought of that before, not sure if it'd exactly be the most action-packed set but should still make an appearance sometime. I did think of Malfoy Manor briefly, but I kinda thought something with a Shop Description starting like "Have fun torturing Ministry officials!" wouldn't be too appropriate (even though DUPLO Jurassic Park is now a thing). But I totally forgot there was a fight scene there too :P

Yeah, definitely could do with a Myrtle :) A proper bathroom would be nice too (a small one did appear in 4730 The Chamber of Secrets (link)

Fleur was also in the sixth book, but had a pretty minor role. The Room of Requirement has actually been released twice, but wasn't really notworth either time. :P The first was just a training dummy and the second was a Gryffindor bunkbed. They could do much more with it.

I guess that most of the things I can think of that are missing really just need updates or new costumes, but I guess that an OotP Sirius Black is the big one. Other characters who were never released but maybe should have been are Tonks, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Horace Slughorn, Madam Pomfrey, Grawp, Firenze, Nearly Headless Nick, Rita Skeeter, Cornelius Fudge (I don't know if his successor with the hard to spell last name did enough to get a figure, but Fudge probaby did), Madame Maxime (probably had more impact on the series than Karkoff, to be honest), Percy, Bill, and Charlie Weasley, Kreacher, and Crookshanks. Blaise Zabini, Cho Chang, and the minor Gryffindor students in Harry's year (Dean, Seamus, Lavendar, and Parvati) might be fun inclusions, but probably aren't necessary compared to someone like Neville, Luna, or Cedric. As for sets, they could dip into Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade more. The Leaky Cauldron and Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes are the big ones. I guess that The Three Broomsticks is the only Hogsmeade building which has a chance other than rereleases of Honeydukes and the Shrieking Shack, but I don't know if I'd say that it is "missing." The blind dragon from Deathly Hallows in a Gringotts vault could be a good set.

I could probably keep going, but I'm expecting a wave pretty similar to the one in 2010 and don't want to get my hopes up too high for a character with five minutes of screentime across the series. :P

Definitely- a redesigned Sirius is one of the first things I thought of when I found out HP was coming back. Can't wait to see him with some decent hair and a new face.

I thought I remembered someone mentioning the Room of Requirement before, but then I couldn't see any mention of it on here and couldn't see it in any images (and I had a look at all the Hogwarts sets myself and I still can't see it :D). Removed it from the list since it is there, but a more significant one would be really great. Thanks for all the other things, I've added them in (and added a couple of things I thought of along the way). But yeah, I get the feeling most of the sets coming out in the first wave are just going to be remakes of the obvious things (Hogwarts, Hogwarts Express, Knight Bus, Hagrid's Hut, etc). Since I've got every HP set I don't think I'll be picking too many of these up unless they're really huge improvements

I'm in the same boat. I missed the larger sets so I'm looking forward to another change for a real Hogwarts, but don't need another copy of Hagrid's Hut or the Knight Bus. There will definitely be some new stuff because LEGO knows that makes people come back (and somebody like Luna in Ravenclaw robes or Nearly Headless Nick would be really easy to just throw in in a lot of sets), but hopefully they will be a little bit nicer about it than raising the price for a few exclusive characters and a model which was pretty much perfect the last time they did it.
