Password reset[edit source]

  • Hey Meiko, Vasko's been locked out after trying to do password change, and a recovery email doesn't seem to be sending. I think you helped me out after I had a similar problem once by resetting the password and sending that reset password through email, I was just wondering if you or Samantha would be able to possibly help here? (also I'm sending Sam a message too, just thought you should know so you don't end up both doing a reset :D). Thanks very much :) NovaHawk 12:54, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
    • Brickimedia doesn't have outbound email for some reason. --Lewis Cawte (talk) 14:14, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
      • Guess it's pretty stupid that we have a password recovery form relying on email then :D Could've sworn I got a recovery email once... NovaHawk 23:51, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
    • I personally can't do anything about it right now. If he hasn't already, have him create a new account and temporarily grant him his rights back. After we move to ShoutWiki we can merge the accounts back together hopefully. --ToaMeiko (talk) 17:38, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
      • I managed to log in, as I said on Nova's talk page, maybe I should've mentioned elsewhere as well. Vasko (talk) 18:37, 6 March 2017 (UTC)

Cache files[edit source]

Hi Meiko, I was just wondering if you happened to remember anything about the LEGO cache URL you gave me a while back (http://cache.lego.com/r/dynamic/is/image/LEGO/(ITEM#)_alt1?op_sharpen=0&resmode=sharp4&wid=2000&fit=constrain,1&fmt=png-alpha) and if you knew of any extra parameters or values for the parameters? Late was asking if it was possible to produce a cropped image with the URL (because most minifigure images have a bunch of white space to either side of it making the image really wide), I was thinking there might be a height parameter I haven't been able to find, or some way of changing the value of that fit parameter. It's not a huge deal, I can still crop it manually of course now we've got a server which shouldn't crash halfway through uploading a file, but it'd just save a bit of time :) Thanks! NovaHawk 04:36, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

As far as I know, those are all the parameters. --ToaMeiko (talk) 15:28, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
Ok thanks, guess I'll stop putting random words in an hoping for something to work then :D (oh and you'd probably figure it out quicker than I did, but it seems like the sig code on ShoutWiki doesn't seem to do any sort of substitutions or anything in the preferences, what you put in the box is what comes out when you sign) NovaHawk 02:01, 14 June 2017 (UTC)

Re: Editcount[edit source]

Hey, thanks for mentioning this :) Sorry I'm a little busy, but the short answer is that Editcount needs patching up. I'll try to write a more elaborate answer hopefully this week. Thank you!

LUG stuff[edit source]

Hey Meiko, Holycharly was asking about a couple of LUG-related things, and you'd be in a much better position than me to answer either of them:

  • LUGs and what they're generally like- are you still with BioniLUG? I've never been a part of an in-person LUG so can't really give any insight to how they work, if it's worth being in one, etc.
  • Do we still have access to AFOL Shopping days and stickers for them (specifically for European members)? Just had a look around and it looks like some people on EB have got 2018 stickers, but I don't know whether Brickipedia's still a part of that.

Anyway, hope you had a great Christmas, and Happy New Year! :) NovaHawk 12:04, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

Hey @NovaHawk: (cc @Holycharly:), I'm not a part of BioniLUG anymore but I can give some insight. Many LUGs are different, if you're a part of a LUG that's geographically located in your area, they'll generally have regular meetups and get togethers where they'll meet, plan events, collaborate or communicate on group projects, etc. Global LUGs like BioniLUG are a bit different, you'll generally see them meet up at AFOL events (BrickCon, BrickFair, etc), but they collaborate and plan over forums (e.g. BZPower private forums for BioniLUG members), discuss group projects, share announcements and messages from LEGO, etc all online. Being in a LUG can be a pretty beneficial experience. One of the major perks to in-person LUGs (online LUGs technically qualify too but harder to coordinate) is an internal LEGO program called LUGBulk. The LUGBulk program changes each year so it's hard to fill in all the details, but a good explanation of the program can be found here and here. There's a few other programs too that LEGO offers to LUGs, such as event support, project support, etc, whereby if your LUG has an event they want to host or a project they want to build (e.g. a big MOC exhibit to display somewhere public), the LUG can request support from LEGO in the form of bulk bricks specific to the project, bulk sets, LEGO employees to come out if necessary to be a part of it, etc. If LEGO feels your project is significant to AFOL engagement they'll support the event/project. I've seen a few of these where LUGs in metropolitan areas do a big exhibit at a public venue such as New York Public Library where LEGO supported the parts to build parts of the exhibit. These support programs are a little bit different than convention support, which isn't limited to LUGs, but is what events such as BrickFair, BrickWorld, etc use to supply bulk parts for name badges and goodie bags, surplus sets for raffles and giveaways, etc.
The AFOL Shopping Days are something I haven't heard anything about for 2018. I'll have to look through the LAN forums to see if I've missed it but usually I get an email about that kind of thing. In years past, they haven't been limited to the US (however the dates for US and EU are generally different), so if that's still going on I'm sure that EU AFOLs will be able to have the same opportunity. I'll be sure to share if I find or hear anything about it. There's been a lot of restructuring in the LEGO Community Team and a lot of people's roles changing, so it may be on the backburner for LEGO and we may hear something about it a little bit more into the year.
Happy New Year to you as well! Let me know if you have any more questions, I'm happy to answer. I'll try to find something about the shopping days for you as well even if I have to email someone at LEGO and ask. Cheers! --ToaMeiko (talk) 15:36, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
