This article is about the Flash Thompson Venom. For other Venoms, see the disambiguation page.

Venom or Agent Venom is the current alias of Eugene "Flash" Thompson.

Background

After losing his legs in Iraq, Flash joined Project Rebirth 2.0. This program bonded him with a partially sedated Venom symbiote, which the US government had obtained after Mac Gargan's arrest. While bonded, Flash gained the ability to form legs and changed the symbiote's physical appearance.

He has had multiple confrontations with Toxin and has fought Anti-Venom and Carnage.

Flash recently joined the Guardians of the Galaxy as a representative of the Avengers. While exploring the cosmos, the symbiote started receiving telepathic messages from its planet of origin's hivemind. It couldn't understand them, but it did manage to locate the source of these messages. To get there, it began hopping from Guardian to Guardian, eventually using Drax to knock out the rest and pilot the ship. During this time, Flash was unconscious and unaware of the unfolding events. He regained consciousness only moments before the ship landed. Leaving Drax behind, the symbiote escapes the vessel and momentarily joins the hivemind. Meanwhile, Drax puts Flash in a chokehold, blaming him for the symbiote's actions. However, Star-Lord wakes up and manages to talk Drax out of killing him. Though none of the Guardians are convinced that they're safe, save Groot, Flash gets them to bond with the hivemind in order to speak with them. During this time, the symbiotes—who refer to themselves as the Klyntar—explain that they are a race of warriors who wish to protect the universe by bonding with other species and enhancing their abilites. Because of their one fault, the ability to be corrupted by an impure host, few know of their true purpose. They praise Flash for his purity and reward him with a cleansed Venom symbiote, now possessing more abilities than ever before, as well as a new look.
