Everything is Awesome is the lead single from The LEGO Movie soundtrack, so you better get used to the mind-numbingly dull electropop contained inside. The track performed by Tegan and Sara and The Lonely Island, is almost instantly forgettable. It takes whatever it is make people like the bland indie-pop of Tegan and Sara, and the comedic styling of The Lonely Island, and matches them into blandness.
It honestly sounds like something made by a guy at home on their laptop, and not in a good one. Lyrically it lacks much of a catch, though the rapping by Samberg and co. is the best part of the song, but doesn't approach the humour found in tracks like "Motherlover" or "I'm on a Boat", instead just sticking to the theme of the song, which is fit the word awesome in as many times as possible. "A Nobel prize, a piece of string, you know what's awesome? Everything."
Well, I'm afraid they are wrong there. This song is not awesome.
