Introduction

Helloo Brickimedia! (almost typed Brickipedia there for a moment =p) I'm here with my first caption contest here! Back at Brickipedia, I used to host several caption contests, which i really enjoyed for both the process and just looking at the many great entries. Therefore, lets start! =D

Caption Contest 1

Background

I'm sure everyone knew about the new James Bond film "Spectre" that has just been released, and the shot of the villain shrouded in the shadows left me with a deep impression. Hence, I tried to recreate it in Lego, and after applying several filters, tada!

Rules

They are standard rules that are quite typical of any contest, but nonetheless, they still are important.

Starts from '21/11/15' and ends on '6/12/15', around half a month
No copying other users entries
Most creative and funny entries win!

Templates will be given out, and here they are! (At time of typing the templates are not yet created, please give me some time)

AT LONG LAST!!!! My second caption contest is now live! (yay!) Thanks so much for your support guys especially NovaHawk who provided a lot of much needed assistance! =D One catch would be that I cannot enter the code for comments into my blog without it experiencing a server error...

@Captainjackster: No, no prior knowledge is needed from SPECTRE to answer this, but yes I agree that I could have made a better photo. Thanks for your support and encouragement and please still continue to participate too =)

Wait, the captions were supposed to be based on the new James Bond movie? Ok, now I get it, but I haven't, and probably won't see "Spectre" anyway. Sorry yet again for the repetitive and useless comments and for not being aware of everything that this contest entailed. I wouldn't have been able to give input anyway. ugh, this blog extension's so annoying :/

I think by the looks of it Special:CreateBlogPost is broken, but you should be able to create a blog in the same way that you create a page- just type "User blog:Omega X/topic" into the search bar and then hit the redlink to create the page. If you want the little vote box, put

<vote/>

at the top, and be sure to put

{{comments}}

at the bottom if you want people to comment. Sorry it's a roundabout way of doing things, but it's the only way I know :S

@Captainjackster Yes, all u have to do is to type out a phrase in the comments and yeap at least the participation award is guaranteed. As for the duration of the contest, it is stated in the post. It ends on '6/12/15'. =)

Ooh, I remember these, looking forward to seeing the entries :)

A few random unrelated things:

We are Brickipedia :D Brickipedia is the wiki, Brickimedia is the network of wikis (think of it like Wookieepedia being a site, and Wikia running all the sites. Brickipedia=Wookieepedia, Brickimedia=Wikia).
- If you see people typing "Brickia", it means the Brickipedia still running over on Wikia.
Like on the old site, user templates should go in the userspace (ie, User:Omega X/cc1st, User:Omega X/cc2nd, etc)
Sorry about the blog being renamed and the cats being taken away by admins all the time- from what I understand, we have a blog extension being run on other wikis (not just on Brickimedia) and can't modify it without it affecting other sites. Otherwise it would be easy to fix it so the right stuff happened automatically :(

Oh i see! I was indeed a bit confused back there as the names remain unchanged. Now its much clearer thanks! =D
About the templates, i do apologise cos i had become much more rusty than i had expected for not using any wikis for 2 years =/ I am still trying to relearn the coding and the formats etc, but still thanks a lot for the clarification! Hence for all templates and blogs it should have a "User:Omega X/..." in front of it?
Oh i see yea i had noticed the renaming and redirects here and have to admit it is quite confusing =[ Again thanks so much for your clarification!
Erm just one side question, i cant seem to find a list of all the popular blogs in the wiki (which is a feature in the previous wiki) and a list of my blogs too. May i ask if they're still present in this wiki? Thanks!

About blogs: Technically we can modify it like we used to, it just means we can't update it hardly at all down the road because all of our modifications would have to be redone and it's a hassle and gets in the way. It's a pain having to remove the categories and move the blogs manually so that they're how we want but it's even more of a pain to have to re-hack the extension every time we update. :/

@Meiko: How often does the extension get updated? I had a look at it a while ago, and I'm pretty sure it's easy to modify it so it suits our normal style

@Omega:

That's fine, 2 years is a while, it's totally understandable you don't remember all the little rules :) Yes, user templates should all begin with User:Omega X/. For blogs, when you use the createblogpage, if you could type in "Omega X/whatever you want to call the blog", that would be very helpful, but totally ok if you don't, an admin will just move the blog to where it should be.
There isn't an automated way to see all your blogs on here unfortunately, however, what you can do is create User blog:Omega X and type in the code

{{BlogListing}}
```
and hit save- this will show all your blogs. Or, if you just want me to make it for you, let me know :)
There isn't a current popular blogs page as far as I'm aware, but I'll make one up in the next 24 hours, maybe that will help get people back into blogs too

It's supposed to be updated every time we update MediaWiki (or more often if major changes are made to the extensions), which should be more often than it is already but I've been waiting on Lcawte to update to MediaWiki 1.25 (now 1.25.3 and soon 1.26 which is scheduled for release in two days) but like everything we ask from him, it never happens or you just get a cocky response about it. I've tried to update it myself, having already done some of the steps towards updating, but the whole site's broken as a result, and then downgrading it to get the site working again takes quite a bit of time... Modifying the extension isn't necessarily that hard but it requires dirty hacks that sometimes have unwanted side effects...

@Nova Thanks so much! Yup I had created the list of blogs on that page and looking forward to see the list of popular blogs on the wiki! Yea i feel that blogs are a great part of wikis and it would be nice to see more people being more active in blogs =) Oh ya and yeap I will put Omega X/... when I create a blog, wont trouble u guys =P

@Meiko Wow I didnt know that there would be so much technical stuff involved in the blogs...indeed it sounds like a big hassle, i guess i just need time to get used to this new system of blogs =P

Semantic MediaWiki (which is what I was planning to use for the popular blogs page) isn't enabled for the blog namespace, and probably a waste of resources if we did enable it. I'm trying to think of a workaround now, will get something up as soo as I can :)

Perhaps it wouldn't be that much of a waste of resources. If it makes blogs better, there's an upside to enabling SMW for the blog namespace, so it's possibly worth trying. Let me know if you want me to enable it. There's also a chance we could entirely replace our BlogPage extension with the createpage script I've been trying to implement and SMW everything else, to where the extension isn't even necessary.
