Currently, due to someone adding it into the sysop group (not sure who), but admins currently have news reporter rights. Just wondering if we want this built into sysop (as well as being able to give out news reporter rights to non-admins, much like how patroller is built into admin but can be given out separately), or keep news reporter separate (like how QCG is completely separate). Allow them built into admin[edit source]

Keep them separate from admin[edit source]

  1. I'd rather them separate personally. I just feel like the QCG, they're very different roles NovaHawk 01:39, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

  3. People can report news but not have administrator rights, and it should stay that way. --ToaMeiko (talk) 02:12, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

  5. Although I feel that administrators should be able to be news reporters, I do strongly feel that non-administrators should also be able to post news. {{SUBST:User:SKP4472/signature}} (talk) 18:24, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Comments[edit source]

  • @Meiko and SKP: Sorry if I wasn't clear enough- if it's built into admin, it just means that all admins get the news reporter right by default. Non-admins can still get the news reporter right as well (it would work the same way as patroller) NovaHawk 21:38, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
    • Yeah, I understood (I was the one who defined the group permissions in LocalSettings). I think that if a sysop needs to edit news pages, they could be added to the news reporter group. All sysops don't need to edit news by default though, I don't think. --ToaMeiko (talk) 21:42, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Closing, and it looks like this has already been taken of. NovaHawk 08:05, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
