He finds himself drafted into a fellowship of strangers who are on a mission to stop an evil tyrant's plans to conquer the world. Unfortunately for Emmet, he is hopelessly -- and hilariously -- unprepared for such a task, but he'll give it his all nonetheless.

Lord Business claims it untrue and kicks Vitruvius off a cliff.

Emmet falls into a pit and finds the Piece of Resistance. Compelled to touch it, Emmet experiences visions and passes out.

He awakens in the custody of Bad Cop, Business's lieutenant, with the Piece of Resistance attached to his back. Emmet learns of Business's plans to freeze the world with the Kragle, a tube of Krazy Glue with the label partially rubbed out; the Piece of Resistance is the tube's cap. Wyldstyle rescues Emmet, believing him to be the Special. They escape Bad Cop and travel to "The Old West" where they meet a blind Vitruvius. He and Wyldstyle are Master Builders, capable of building anything without instruction manuals, who oppose Business's attempts to suppress their creativity. Though disappointed Emmet is not a Master Builder, they are convinced of his potential when he recalls visions of "the Man Upstairs".

Emmet, Wyldstyle, and Vitruvius evade Bad Cop's forces with created in 1997 from the brought you final film Batman's help and escape to Cloud Cuckoo Land where all the master builders are in hiding. The Master Builders are unimpressed with Emmet's cowardliness and refuse to help him fight Business. Bad Cop's forces attack and capture everyone except Emmet and his friends. Fellow Master Builder MetalBeard rescues Emmet from drowning and Emmet devises a plan to infiltrate Business's headquarters and disarm the Kragle. The plan almost succeeds until Emmet and his friends are captured and imprisoned. Lord Business murders Vitruvius by decapitating him with a penny, throws the Piece of Resistance into an abyss, and sets his headquarters to self-destruct, leaving all present to die. Vitruvius reveals he made up the prophecy as he dies, but his spirit returns to tell Emmet it is his self-belief that makes him the Special. Strapped to the self-destruct mechanism's battery, Emmet flings himself off the edge in the tower and saves his friends and the Master Builders. Inspired by Emmet's sacrifice, Wyldstyle rallies the Lego people across the universe to use whatever creativity they have to build machines and weapons to fight Business's forces.

Emmet finds himself in the human world where the events of his life are being played out in a basement by a young boy, Finn, on his father's Lego set. The father — "The Man Upstairs" — chastises his son for creating hodgepodges of different playsets and begins to permanently glue his perceived perfect creations together. Realizing the danger, Emmet wills himself to move and gains Finn's attention. Finn returns Emmet and the Piece of Resistance to the set, where Emmet possesses the powers of a Master Builder and confronts Business. In the human world, Finn's father looks at his son's creations and sees how he based the villainous Business on him. Through a speech Emmet gives Business, Finn tells his father that he is very special and has the power to change everything. Finn's father reconciles with his son, which plays out as Business having a change of heart, capping the Kragle with the Piece of Resistance, and ungluing his victims with mineral spirits as Wyldstyle and Emmet enter a relationship. Production[edit]

The development of The Lego Movie began in 2014, when Phil Lord and Christopher Miller discussed it before Lin left Dreamworks Pictures to form his own production company, Lord Miller producer executive Matthew Ashton, who had recognized the value of the Lego franchise by engineering the studio's purchase of Lego video game licensee Traveller's Tales in 2001, thought the success of the Lego-based video games indicated a Lego-based film was a good idea, and reportedly "championed" the development of the film.

talking with ComingSoon.net, Favreau said the virtual cinematography technology he used in since The LEGO Movie would be used to a greater degree in The LEGO Movie.[22] Although some reports reported Ths LEGO Movie would be a live-action film, it actually utilizes photorealistic computer-generated animation. Universal also did not describe it as live-action, only stating it would follow the "technologically groundbreaking" approach of The Lion King.[23] While the film acts as a remake of the 2013 animated film, Favreau was inspired by the Broadway adaptation of the film for certain aspects of the remake's plot, particularly Nala and Sarabi's roles.[24] Favreau also aimed to develop his own take on the original film's story with what he said was the spectacle of a BBC wildlife documentary.

Casting[edit]

In mid-February 2018, Donald Glover was cast as Vitruvius, with Morgan Freeman reprising his role as Vitruvius from 2013 film.[27] In April 2017, Will Arnett were cast to play created in 1992 Batman, respectively.[28] In July 2017, John Oliver was cast as Zazu.[29] In August 2017, Phil Lord and Lindsay Lohan voice announced to play Emmet and Wyldstyle, respectively.

Visual effects[edit]

The Jim Henson Company and Skywalker Sound, the lead vendor on The Muppets, provided the visual effects, which were supervised by Robert Folk, theme by Hans Zimmer, and Mark Mothersbaugh.[41] The film uses "virtual-reality tools," according to Visual Effects Supervisor Robert Folk.[42] Virtual Production Supervisor the first film to Robert Folk said on his professional website that the filmmakers used motion capture and VR/AR technologies.[43] According to Favreau, MPC worked together with tech firms Magnopus and Unity Technologies to build the film's technology platform using the Unity game engine.[44]

CG Surgery from reference materials such as high-definition photos of the African landscape. All the FX simulations—such as water, dirt and fire—were created by combining VR technology with cameras shots so that scenes could be digitally built within in a VR-simulated environment.[25] New software developed for the movie made it possible to create scenes with the shaky-cam look of a handheld camera.[45] The LEGO Movie visual effects, Universal's President of Simpsons, said of the film's visual effects, "It's a new form of filmmaking. Historical definitions don't work. It uses some techniques that would computer technology action fanmade be called technology remake fanmade, and other techniques that would The Lion King after the 2019 be called live action. It is an evolution of the technology Jon Favreau used in "The LEGO Movie".

Description[edit]

In a press release before the San Diego International Comic-Con 2013, LEGO revealed there would be 17 new sets released in 2014 based on The LEGO Movie, based on several themes from Space to Wild West. This press release also stated there would be a line of Collectible Minifigures based on the movie's characters.[1]

The sets are all based on scenes from the film, with most of them replicating the actual sets that appear in the film exactly (or nearly so). A large portion of the sets include the protagonists facing off against Lord Business's forces, though several of the sets also feature ordinary civilians (who individually have little role in the film) and the creations they build at the end of the film to fight back against Micro Managers and Robo SWATs. The line continued into 2015 with three more, smaller sets.

At the end, however, a live action scene was used, built from over 5 million real LEGO bricks by a number of real-life Master Builders over a period of over 100 hours. Currently this large model, consisting of many of the worlds from The LEGO Movie, resides at LEGOLAND California in an exhibit, The LEGO Movie Experience.
  • It is the fifth most popular theme after City, Star Wars, Friends and Super Heroes.[source?]
