Gorbag, orc captain of Cirith Ungol, is a minifigure which appears in LEGO The Lord of the Rings: The Video Game.

Background[edit | edit source]

Gorbag was a captain of Minas Morgul as well as a leader of the orcs of Cirith Ungol. After Frodo Baggins was stung by Shelob, a band of orcs led by Gorbag and Shagrat found him wrapped in the spider's silk. After examining him, Gorbag realized that he was not dead (only drugged asleep) and ordered the Orcs to take him back to the watchtower of Cirith Ungol. At the tower, they went through his belongings. After discovering Frodo's Mithril chainmail armor, they began to argue over who would get it. This led to a fight, in which most of the orcs of Cirith Ungol (who were split between the leadership of Gorbag and Shagrat) fought and killed each other. By the end of the battle, only a few, among them Gorbag, were still living. He was still up in the top room of the tower, about to torture Frodo. In The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King film, Samwise Gamgee stabbed Gorbag from behind with Frodo's sword Sting (which he had found earlier in Shelob's lair), killing him. In the video game, he is shown being hit on the back of the head with a frying pan by Sam and nearly falling down the trapdoor, but using his arms and legs to barely hold on to the edges of the trapdoor entrance.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Like Sharku, the only way in which he is distinctive is by his dialogue and role that he was given based on a Lord of the Rings character of the same name in the films. Otherwise, he looks similar to a regular Mordor Orc, aside from his breastplate and lack of a hair piece.
  • He is not a playable character in the game, though he can easily be created as a custom character..
  • He is portrayed by Stephen Ure who also portrayed Grishnákh in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers film.
