The Elmhurst Store Opening Set was a set given to the first 300 customers making a US $35 purchase at Elmhurst New York, on Store opening day Saturday, July 10, 2010.
The Elmhurst Store Opening Set was a LEGO Promo set of a NYC Subway car. It was given out at the LEGO Store in Queens Center Mall, Elmhurst, New York, on July 10, 2010, to the first 300 customers making a minumum purchase of $35.00. It included 95 pieces that built a subway car. A subway car was chosen as the exclusive set because of the subway that runs below ground near the mall.
The first 300 customers to spend the minimum amount on Sunday received a LEGO Store Grand Opening T-shirt. This T-shirt has the LEGO logo and Grand Opening info on the front. The back has a train conductor minifig with the promo set in the background and also includes the name of the store and the opening info.
Throughout the weekend, customers who brought the grand opening announcement post card into the store were given a Limited Edition R2-D2 Promo DUPLO Brick. People were also able to take part in a build of an 8 foot tall R2-D2 model with LEGO Master Model Builder Dan Steininger.
