Background[edit | edit source]

Isildur, is the King of Gondor. During the Second Age of Middle Earth, Elendil formed an alliance of elves and men to fight Sauron who wanted to rule all of Middle-earth. So the alliance set off to Mordor to fight Sauron's dark forces. The alliance almost won until Sauron, himself, joined the battle and killed many soldiers before attacking Elendil, and slamming him against a stone wall. Isildur rushed to him, but found him dead. Sauron attacked, but Isildur picked up his sword and sliced off his finger that had the One Ring on it, defeating him. After the Battle, Isildur is attacked by orcs. He attempts to escape in the river but the One Ring slipped from him, showing the orcs where he was, helping them kill him. The Ring was later discovered in the river by two hobbits named Deagol and Smeagol.
