Wikilove[edit source]
How does it work? :P I click it on the sidebar yet nothing happens. CJC95 (talk) 15:11, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
- It currently doesn't work in Refreshed (Brickimedia/brickimedia#134), but you can play around with it by going to http://en.brickimedia.org/wiki/User:ToaMeiko?useskin=vector (and click the heart near the search bar). It also works in the DeepSea skin. I believe Refreshed is the only skin it doesn't currently work in, but that will be worked out. --ToaMeiko (talk) 17:08, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

Bot?[edit source]
I'd love to create a bot to do two things:
- Add links to the first mention of set
- Remove the stupid template that says that part names are incorrect from all part pages
But I don't really know how. MsD (Talk) 22:38, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- Have you considered using AWB? As for the the partnames template, the majority of the pages that template appears on have incorrect formatting of the part names. --ToaMeiko (talk) 22:40, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
MWC offline PM[edit source]
BTW, have you tested that offline PM much? I'd love for it to work, but MWC only keeps the last 50 chat messages now, so 50 messages after you send the PM it will be deleted, and the person on the other end may not have seen it, sorry. UltrasonicNXT (talk)
- Huh, didn't know that. Maybe change the expiry on PMs above 50? (it was mostly just a javascript toy I made to play around with what can be done anyways) --ToaMeiko (talk) 20:00, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Chat[edit source]
Brickimedia chat isn't working. At the moment, LFY, Storm, and Agenet Spy are in chat. When I enter, it says that no one is there and that I am not there either. Anything I type does not appear in the chat window. I am using Firefox, which worked before, and chat is still not working. I have also tried internet explorer. Any ideas on what I can do to make it work again? Thanks,

Re: Reviews[edit source]
- Because apart from the one I actually wrote just then, the others were copy-pasted from way back in the time when noone did images :P I'll probably go and stick in set images sometime later when I get around to it :) NovaHawk 05:18, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

Re: Brickfilms[edit source]
To be honest, the goal of a Brickfilms Wiki was to see if the idea would be successful, and if it worked, I would propose that it be added here. :P Considering the difficulty of a fork, I'm not sure that I'd want to start it on Wikia. But if it's not going to be successful, I don't really want to start it here, either. Also, all the good brickfilm domains are taken on Wikia, and I'm not really interested in adopting any of them. :P - Drew1200 (talk)
Wikilove[edit source]
- Hey Meiko, I was just wondering if you knew if the awards in wikilove can be customised? If so, maybe we could replace some images which have the Wikipedia logo, having themed awards (like a Super Heroes award for people working on Super Heroes pages) instead of kittens, etc? NovaHawk 05:32, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
- The images are all uploaded files. Just change them on meta. mw:Extension:WikiLove has documentation on customising the awards. --ToaMeiko (talk) 18:42, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

Inventory in infobox[edit source]
- Should be fixed- Property:Quantity is apparently a special property these days, so I've made a new property at Property:PartQuantity and updated all the templates NovaHawk 04:33, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
Feeds[edit source]
- I never knew there was a w3c validator for feeds :) It's only the top two errors (about author and updated) that seem to be really important- working on a fix right now. NovaHawk 22:25, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, I meant to get you to remind me about this. Yeah, the top two errors were about no updated or author tags. And, if you re-check the error link, those errors are done from 32 to 17- I looked into the RSS extension we have the other day and apparently it assigns the author and update tag by the first occurence of a default signature followed by a timestamp, which is why I added it to {{NewsBy}}. I've just got to go around and add a NewsBy template to all the old news reports and then it should be fine (which will be in a little while). If you see me on and I still haven't done this, please remind me :) NovaHawk 08:07, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

Feed[edit source]
- Is now valid :) The rest of the recommendations listed can't really be helped with the extension we have, and it shouldn't matter anyway NovaHawk 23:24, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- Turns out that the feed is just taking time to update (also the Sandcrawler had made the feed temporarily invalid, it should be fixed when it updates next). So all we need to do is put
<span style="display:none">[[{{subst:FULLPAGENAME}}]]</span>
at the very top of every news article. I'll try to do it when I can get on for a longer period of time unless you get to it first NovaHawk 04:21, 6 March 2014 (UTC)- All fixed NovaHawk 05:16, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

- Hey Meiko, thanks very much for setting that up :D However, I won't be able to be around too much for another 48 hrs or so, but after that I'll definitely get started on an answers/comments extension (when I figure out how to make a mediawiki extension that is :P) (As you probably guessed, by Internet died again before, sorry about that) NovaHawk 22:38, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
C2f[edit source]
Why does C2f need to exist? Those articles are quite clearly class 4, but they get to be rated higher just because all the info on them isn't out yet? I don't get it. -Cligra
- Because it's complete (C2), but are based on a future subject, so not all the information exists yet, but absolutely every bit of info that exists at the time is on those pages, so they can't get any more complete. It saves people the trouble of trying to add information (if they are say, improving C4 pages) to those articles when there is no more information to be added. --ToaMeiko (talk) 18:23, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- While I do, from a technical standpoint, understand the definition, it seems like unnecessary complication. While the article (theoretically) contains all the information it can at the moment, it's only going to be outdated very quickly, and the rating will have to be changed again. In addition to this, listing is as a "C2" makes it seem like the article should be halfway decent, whereas most C2f articles are little more than stubs. -Cligra
- Can we get more future articles then?, as in C3f and C4f-Soup

Review Team[edit source]
I personally think we need a review team to keep the reviews sub site alive. Brickset have one, Eurobricks have one > http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=20631 , so why not us? If we all learn how to use a certain review layout it'd work. Like brickset and Eurobricks we could put our reviews in the new section, so people we see them, and hopefully write a review after! I have lots more ideas if this is green lit - Soup

Re: Question[edit source]
- The main thing I see wrong with it is there's no photo of the set itself built up- there are instruction images and images of it in the movie, but a pic of the set would be nice. But I don't see that or anything else stopping you from nomming it NovaHawk 02:24, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

"Database Error?"[edit source]
So I was trying to comment on the stories/customs merging form (which I totally support), and I got a Database Error. It might be the computer I'm using, since I don't usually use this computer, however I should probably let you know. If you are not the best one to contact about this, let me know who I should report this to. Thanks! Camotoy 23:23, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
- I believe I've fixed the issue. In the future, you'll want to post an issue at https://github.com/Brickimedia/brickimedia/issues since that way you're sure any system administrator will see it. Thanks! --ToaMeiko (talk) 01:14, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
Re:CheckUser[edit source]
- Eh, basically I don't see as me legitimately having the rights since they I never had them at the time of transfer. And I'm hopelessly hoping that one day this will one day get some attention and the things resolved so we can set up checkuser and/or oversight pages and then I'll make a request :) NovaHawk 11:42, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
- Actually, CheckUser and Oversight have been merged through board agreement in a new group called "Functionary" (Special:ListGroupRights), but the users who have CU haven't been moved to the new group because of userrights-interwiki not working currently. --ToaMeiko (talk) 13:25, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
Chat Ban?[edit source]
Can I have an explanation as to why I was banned? I was clearly about to change the subject. GaladhanuOhtaryondo (talk) 05:12, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- Maybe read the ban reason? Also might I suggest you read the comment on BP:CBA? Changing the topic is your way of avoiding accountability and avoiding being held responsible for all the trouble you like to cause. --ToaMeiko (talk) 05:19, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

- I do not care if it is unintentional. The point is that it's trolling. Intentional or not, it's still trolling, it's still disruptive, and it's still something that we don't want in this community that if you continue will get you blocked. If you're provoking users unintentionally, you need to learn proper social skills. If you can unintentionally be provocative and harass people, then you have bigger problems than just being a troll. Once again however, I don't care if it's intentional or not— it's still harassment and it will not be tolerated. Also, let me remind you of something: over two months ago, you made an agreement with Ajraddatz that you'd contribute constructively if you were unblocked. You have not done anything constructive on this wiki, and you've only caused more trouble since you unblocked than you had caused before. These kinds of actions, especially the fact that you are a disruption-only account, are what would get you indefinitely blocked here. Anyways, I'm done with this petty argument for tonight. Good riddance. --ToaMeiko (talk) 05:45, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- It wasn't disruptive until you guys made it so. I am not a disruption-only account, and would contribute, but you need to make me feel welcome and part of the community. BrickFair[edit source]
George,
My brother saw you added him as a contact on flickr and saw that you posted your brick badge there which has a Brickimedia brick. That caught my attention because as it happens, I'm an active Wikipedian and at BrickFair. Where would be convenient for me to find you there?--184.185.138.30 02:39, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
- I'll probably be at the Bionicle table today. I'm wearing a dark gray shirt and tan pants. Come find me! --ToaMeiko (talk) 14:31, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
- It was nice meeting you. I have this account name at least for now; I haven't ever been able to come up with decent names, and your software seems to dislike "Ɱ" for being confusing or spoofing something. Anyway, I meant to ask you about your image policy, and I wasn't surprised that it is quite free. The WMF does only use free and some fair use images to prevent the copyright holders from suing them; does Brickimedia not think of that as a problem? Anyway, I'd be happy to write about BrickCon, BrickFair, Brickfête, BrickFest, Brick Fiesta, Brickworld, and the like, and perhaps even a general article on Lego conventions.--Editor (talk) 23:32, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
- Our image policy is mostly so free because nothing we upload is really prone to a lawsuit. The LEGO Group is a company that supports its community that revolves around the product, so the only thing they'll have a problem with us uploading would be confidential/preliminary set images. Anything else that gets uploaded generally is free or fair use, and if someone wants us to take something off of our site it's easier for everyone for us to just say "sure" than to make a big dispute about rights to the image. The only time I've ever seen a problem with our images (aside from people uploading preliminary/confidential stuff from LEGO) would be if something is taken from Flickr and the author contacted us to credit him to that image. Thankfully the LEGO community doesn't have all the lawsuit-crazy people like many other parts of society have, so we've never needed a very rigid or limiting image policy.
- And if you could make those articles for those events, that'd be great! If you need me to code an infobox for that, just ask (or I'm sure you could probably adapt the code to our existing infoboxes to make it yourself). Thanks for the help! --ToaMeiko (talk) 04:38, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- That makes sense in general, but it seems that there will be a lot of exceptions. Examples could be photographs of notable creations (e.g. ones that have inspired Cuusoo/Ideas sets), or photographs of events. I did receive plenty of backlash and perhaps insight when uploading a a CC-marked image of the BrickFair convention to Wikipedia. It seems that photographs of what can be deemed 'artwork' (in this case, lego creations) cannot be assigned a free license, even ones that I've taken (see Freedom of Panorama). I did end up posting a photograph of the event on Wikipedia, but only because it was one that Todd uses as promotional material, and thus fits their Non-free promotional template.

- So it seems that most photographs of these conventions and of individual creations should not be free under US copyright law; meaning that your image policy should restrict those images, unless the convention organizer allows their use as promotional material (link to the BrickFair resource). And still then, it would be a good idea to require such fair use-marked images to be of sufficiently low resolution and have a detailed fair use rationale. Also, I wasn't thinking about infoboxes yet; I may be able to adapt code from Wikipedia's and/or one here; I'll let you know if I have any trouble.--Editor (talk) 12:42, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- Just asking ahead of time because I know I'd want to have photos of the conventions in their articles, and wouldn't want any trouble with Brickimedia, the conventions, or their registrants; thanks for understanding and for offering your assistance.--Editor (talk) 13:59, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- I think that unless someone contacts us with an issue about an image, uploading it under whichever license is closest to what it is and listing the source and/or author should be enough. If anyone has an issue with it they can contact the admins and we'll resolve it however it needs to be. --ToaMeiko (talk) 21:07, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- That could be problematic in many cases, especially if a company files a lawsuit against Brickimedia for violating copyright law, instead of asking administrators to remove the image. It'll also lead to photos like File:Bricksthumb.jpg being uploaded, which is on a prominent space on the encyclopedia but has no information as to where it's from; likely pulled from a website. Just trying to offer assistance; although I suppose I'm getting ahead of myself. I'm okay with writing content, but likely I won't feel comfortable adding the conventions' logos and photographs from the events to the articles.--Editor (talk) 22:36, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- Just wanted to add, I'm not sure if this'll work for Wiki- or Bricki- pedias, but I've found some interesting sites with images that confirm that the (perhaps semi-AFOL) Al Pacino has visited BrickCon and BrickFair, the latter being while we were there. I'm requesting the photos to have free licenses for Wikipedia, but perhaps we should use them here now, whatever you think. Looks like he was picking up one of those BrickForge freebies too. Wonder if he had to stand in line to get into the con like the rest of 'em. :) --Editor (talk) 02:28, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- I actually saw him at BrickFair lol. I don't quite know how well those photos would fit into the article here, but if you can think of a way, go ahead and upload them. It might be easier to find a place for them on the wiki if there were a LEGO Godfather theme or something! :D --ToaMeiko (talk) 03:37, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Re:Categories[edit source]
It may not be in guidelines, but it was discussed in one of the forums. The guidelines also to say use 2001 and not 2001 sets, but we've been using the latter for over a year and a half now (and that is meant to be changing to "sets introduced in 2001" soon, but I still need to get to that). Its just that I haven't updated the guidelines, and if I don't no one will. CJC95 (talk) 20:40, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
- Okay thanks for letting me know that. Do you want some help in "migrating" the categories to new names? I can possibly semi-automate the process with MeikoBot. Also if you change the name of the "2001 sets" categories, call it "sets released in 2001" instead of using "introduced". I think it makes more sense that way in most cases. --ToaMeiko (talk) 22:25, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
- I'm currently doing it with my bot thanks (mainly by just removing the old category, which kicks the template into gear). I've almost finished our list of System sets, and then its just TECHNIC and DUPLO (and I haven't added most of those themes to the template yet, though it should be done tomorrow). I'll also do the year through the infobox, although whether it is this week or three weeks time will depend on when I finish this one. CJC95 (talk) 22:29, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

Since when was it policy to ban links to preliminary images? In which case, would you suggest that all information based off it be removed from the site due to it being unsourced? CJC95 (talk) 12:00, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
- We can't do it for the same reason that Brickset, The Brick Fan, and various other communities don't. Linking to, uploading, or sharing preliminary/confidential images condones copyright violation, and copyright violation is something we're strictly prohibited from partaking in with our negotiations with the LEGO Group. No, you don't have to remove everything based on the confidential images, however we can't upload or link to those images as evidence. They can remain as unsourced "rumours" for the time being. --ToaMeiko (talk) 13:57, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
Re: Rights[edit source]
- Sure, that'd be great, thanks, not being able to delete spambot messages was getting old :P (If anyone else reading did prefer I go through a proper rights request, I'd be more than happy to) NovaHawk (talk) 03:50, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Sorry[edit source]
I'm deeply sorry for being so nasty on the budget page, I hope you can forgive me. I guess I need to research before I complain, but I didn't really know what to do to research. Soupperson1 Jeepers!
Various[edit source]
Do you have/are going to get the Star Wars advent calendar? Also if you have any winter village sets I'd say review them sooner than later, as parents and kids are looking for Christmas presents.
Also I think I should've probally given you a quote a long time ago, but better late then never :P "Meiko is a trustworthy user who is considered with the well being of this site. Without Meiko we'd all be at wikia eaten like grass by those cash cows. Soupperson1 Friends are Forever! <3

9 less problems[edit source]
I added 9 benifets of mascots to the vote page, I hope you'll read them and reconsider. Soupperson1 Friends are Forever! <3
Re: User template[edit source]
- Sorry about that, fixed it up. You may want to change the size of that ambassador logo image though ;) NovaHawk 23:12, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the warm welcome to the admin team. I'm honoured to be able to extend my abilities to help Brickimedia, and you have reinforced my belief that the community here is one of the most welcoming of any I have ever joined :P --LK901 21:15, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Mascot[edit source]
Since you voted negative and didn't get my previous message here are some reasons to vote yes: 1. Increased exposure of company/site for us Highly effective in creating awareness, building loyalty and importantly, selling the product Mascots create media exposure and excitement. At community events, the mascot is often photographed for print media or filmed for TV news
2. Appeal to the human psyche A mascot's personality can distinguish a brand. I.e. The Mack Trucks bulldog mascot evokes toughness and strength. I think an owl would represent us as they are hardworking, versitile, and full of information
3. Build brand recognition of a product Generate goodwill for the brand Act as an ambassador for the brand by providing a voice for the company's social conscience Can act as a rallying icon for community identification (for example, baseball fans doing the "Tomahawk Chop") Create a more memorable marketing hook for promotional campaigns
4. Serve as the vehicle to quickly remind readers/editors who you are and what you stand for They create the necessary positive image need for a message campaign to be a success
5. Attract new potential readers/editors to learn more about your site
6. Incentive to get families to visit (if it's cute!/marketable)
7. Create enthusiasm for any fundraising event and participation in a program
8. It would be fun to make as a community.
9. Wikia dosnt have one ;)
We could use the mascot in the (presumably) upcoming podcasts, reviews and holiday greetings like Happy Thanksgiving from Brickipedia! Soupperson1 Friends are Forever! <3
Mixel Review question[edit source]
Hello, I was wondering: for doing a review on a tribe of Mixels, since there aren't specific pages for each tribe, would I end up doing a review on each separate figure's set? --ZootyCutie (talk) 03:17, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
- Possibly but I've been meaning to find a system for doing reviews of multiple sets at once. Lemme ask some other people for ideas first. --ToaMeiko (talk) 03:29, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

Question about that Orbitronz thing...[edit source]
Hello, it's me ZootyCutie from the Mixels Wiki. I was really curious...that whole Wave 4 review thing is still a go, right? I hadn't heard any confirmation about it, so I just really wanted to make sure...thanks. --ZootyCutie (talk) 02:31, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- I still don't have any details on what our 2015 budget looks like, so I haven't gotten around to making any proposals for 2015 yet. If there's room for it in our budget in 2015 I'll make the proposal and let you know the result. --ToaMeiko (talk) 17:47, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- All right. I just wanted to know...because I've been having the tendency to tell people about that I have something coming up, and I wanted to make sure so I can quit saying that if need be. --ZootyCutie (talk) 17:48, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
Happy birthday! My present to you is the realization that you're adopted! Yay! ;D --Knight
Article Feedback and User Rights[edit source]
Just a question regarding the User Rights required to reply to feedback posts. I'm asking because I recently replied to one (mainly because I've seen the same question/similar question be asked several times and no one else was on at the time) and I'd just like to know whether I shouldn't have or not. BrikkyyTalk
- It doesn't require any special permission, no. As long as you provide a good response and don't misuse the ability, it's fine! --ToaMeiko (talk) 20:57, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
Christmas Contest results[edit source]
I noticed you posted the Christmas contest prizes on Twitter, does that mean the results will be in shortly? BrikkyyTalk
Trouble logging in[edit source]
I've tried logging in multiple times and it keeps saying incorrect password :/ Could you send it go me viva brickset to "Soupperson" no 1, I forgot that one's password :P-Soupperson1
- I can't access your password as it's securely hashed. If you can give me an email address to associate with your account I can do that and then you can attempt a password reset. --ToaMeiko (talk) 17:24, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
- bellesheils9@gmail.com, please do it ASAP and thank you! :) Soup
- Unfortunately at the moment there's nothing I can do about this. Since an email address was never associated with your account I'm not able to add one through the database. The best advice I could give you would be to keep trying to log in with your password, and maybe try doing it through a different wiki, or to create a new account which I could attempt to merge your old account into. --ToaMeiko (talk) 21:38, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

Weird images in comments sections[edit source]
Just wondering why I'm seeing this next to everybody's names in comment sections of news reports/blogs/etc. BrikkyyTalk
- That's a feature of the comments extension that has and should be disabled currently. I updated all of our extensions today so obviously the update re-enabled it. I'll fix it. --ToaMeiko (talk) 05:26, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
Password[edit source]
Okay this is hard to explain.. It seems too be the acutal password causing the problem, being too long or something. I made 2 accounts the one with my old password (and my regular account) won't work the new one with a different password will. :P It also may just be might ipad so would it make sense if I emailed you my password then you changed the password and emailed it to me? I'm sorry I'm being so dependant on you :P But honestly you've been a great help! User:Soupperson/Sig
- I don't think it's just your iPad because this is an issue other users are experiencing as well. The most important thing I can suggest to you is to make sure when you sign up to include an email address and to confirm that email address as soon as you register so you can get a password reset through the system. That can help you not get locked out of your account. If this current account works for you for a couple of days I'll merge your accounts together. --ToaMeiko (talk) 16:29, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
Meiiiiikooooo=[edit source]
... Where's my Deep Sea gone? :P (I'm guessing something weird's happened with the MediaWiki upgrade?) NovaHawk 10:16, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
- A lot of things have changed in the update and it may take some time to resolve many of the issues. --ToaMeiko (talk) 16:21, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
Account[edit source]
User:Belle is mine, working and can be merged. If possible. Also on a side note emails from brickimedia automatically go to spam but emails from other lego sites don't. Soupperson1 Friends are Forever! <3
- I'll merge the accounts as soon as I'm able to. There's nothing we can immediately do about the emails however, it's an issue with many MediaWiki sites. --ToaMeiko (talk) 21:24, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
MediaWiki issues[edit source]
I know there's been a lot of issues in the update, so here are some things that I've found that may need to be addressed:
- That password thing (happened to me too but I was able to sign in through customs)
- Thanking users for their edits gives an error message
- My avatar is gone, as is my userpage
- Recent changes now shows all the changes in a sub-list, it looks kind of messy. (not sure whether this one was intentional or not, as it looks like something that would be done for ease of access)
I'm pretty sure all but that last one are legitimate issues, so when you have a chance definitely look into them. BrikkyyTalk
Chat[edit source]
Chat's not working for me. --Knight
- Are you getting an error message? What skin are you using? --ToaMeiko (talk) 22:39, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
Christmas contest prize[edit source]

A Couple of Things to Change[edit source]
Just stopping by, and noticed a couple of things to change on the site (which I can't do anymore since I'm not an admin). One, on review pages using the DeepSea skin, the Social section in the sidebar is still showing up blue (see picture). Also, we need a 'This file is a screenshot of Brickipedia or another Brickimedia project' or something in the picture licensing options :P --Jag 18:38, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
- Oh lol good job noticing that. I'll get to fixing it soon. Also I can give you your rights back now, since you've now made a contribution again and thus are "active". :P --ToaMeiko (talk) 22:52, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
