Look there she goes, that girl is strange, no question
Dazed and distracted can't you tell?
Never part of any crowd
'Cause her head's up in some cloud
No denying she's a funny girl that Belle
- ―Townsfolk, "Belle"
Belle is a character Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Please don't confuse her with Hermione Granger. Please. I'm begging.
Designer's notes
- Beauty and the Beast was never really my favorite Disney movie; I think I saw it once when I was really young, but I grew up with Pocahontas and Cinderella for the most part (not the two I'd choose for my own kids, but we did have the two Toy Story movies and a bunch of Mickey Mouse shorts which I liked more). I only just rewatched it over last summer and was surprised by how consistently good it was (almost flawless, really), but couldn't get into it. Then the live action remake came out this year and as we were scoping for movies to go see, I suggested as a joke to some of my (other male) friends that we go see it. They legitimately liked the idea.
- That note above was all set-up for this one: Long movie short, I didn't like the remake. I was pretty mixed coming out of the theater, but the more I think about it, the more and more I dislike that and the more and more I appreciate the original. I'll keep from ranting about why I disliked it, but the movie also sort of fascinates me, so I'm willing to talk about it.
- It annoys me a fair bit than when looking for the movie's opening song on YouTube, every result on the first page except for a Sing-A-Long on Disney's official channel was from the new version
where people can't sing and Belle isn't visually distinct and and and. At least the Sing-A-Long doesn't have an annoying bouncing ball jumping over the words like I was afraid. The way they caption "Bonjour!" is a bit obnoxious though.

- I'll stop complaining after this note: I don't like the way that mini-doll hairpieces are rendered on LDD. I'm not sure if it's because they have a rubbery/smooth/round texture in real life, but the digital versions look like amorphous blobs.
- More variants might come in the future; I'd probably have to reuse the ballroom hairpiece unless I get creative, but I'd like to do her blue dress from the village and maybe a winter costume.
