Account lockout

• I think I've caught Soup's disease- I can't get back into my old account :/ I was just fixing a few things for reviews, when suddenly I had a Refreshed screen. When I finally found the login button, my password didn't work (and I know it's the right password)... any ideas what I should do?   • What you're going to have to do is make a new account that I merge your old account into. Then I rename the new account to your old name. This can be a bit glitchy and may misassociate contributions globally with a "lost" account. The other alternatives would be to use a different account (I don't know if you still have access to EGRM or NovaFlare), or to make a new account and only use that as your main (without the merge and rename). We don't know the cause of this password lockout issue yet and it's very hard to debug, but maybe by the time we resolve it, any locked out accounts may be able to be accessed again without having to change anything, therefore the latter option might be the safest. Removal of XD

Because it's an extension we get from Wikimedia Gerrit, it's not as simple as submitting LocalSettings changes and whatnot. --ToaMeiko (talk) 03:35, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

@NovaHawk: That's great to hear! Like basically all other social tools, BlogPage is hosted on Wikimedia's git server and thus patches to it need to go through gerrit, and as such, submitting a patch is somewhat more complicated than on GitHub and whatnot, but it is by no means impossible since I've managed to "master" it well enough.

First off, you need a Wikitech/Labs account (see mw:Developer access). Once you have that and you're in the shell user group on Wikitech, you should be able to log in to gerrit (and also bastion, but since we're not interested in Labs right now, let's skip over that). I'm actually not sure how this works right now, so if you're having any issues with this, come poke me (preferably on IRC) and we'll get it sorted out somehow. For the sake of simplicity and all, let's assume your Wikitech/Labs username is NovaHawk, and its lowercase equivalent is used in the URLs below (this is your "Instance shell account name", also visible on Special:Preferences on Wikitech).

You'll need to add your public SSH key on Wikitech. Once that's done, you should be able to sign in to gerrit, though you might also need to add your public SSH key there, too (should that be necessary, it can be found under (your username in the right corner) → Settings → SSH Public Keys).

I don't know what kind of a setup you're using; I'm using PortableGit (git command-line binary + some related, necessary utilities) under Windows 7, but the instructions should apply mostly as-is, no matter what your setup looks like. Now, let's check out a copy of the BlogPage extension: ssh://novahawk@gerrit.wikimedia.org:29418/mediawiki/extensions/BlogPage.git ...but wait, that's not all! Before you can start modifying the code you just checked out, we need to make a few changes to some meta files in the .git subdirectory. Open up BlogPage/.git/config in your favorite non-Microsoft Notepad text editor and add the following lines into it and then save the file:

	[remote "gerrit"]
	url = ssh://novahawk@gerrit.wikimedia.org:29418/mediawiki/extensions/BlogPage.git
	fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/gerrit/*

Then save this paste as BlogPage/.git/hooks/commit-msg and once that's done, you can proceed to make your changes, commit them (git commit -a, for example) as usual and submit to upstream (i.e. push to gerrit) with git push gerrit HEAD:refs/for/master; now there should be a changeset on gerrit, which people can review and comment on.

9 out of 10 people would probably agree that my way of doing this is likely unnecessarily complex, but hey, it works and I'm lazy. ;-) If you get stuck, just let me know and I'm sure we can solve the problem, no matter what it is! --Jack Phoenix (talk) 13:47, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

LEGO Dimensions Request

I think I (along with the help of my friends, who keep begging to do another review) would like to start a video playthrough of LEGO Dimensions when it comes out. We have access to a Wii U with a capture card, and we could plan out consistent videos and the like, starting with the core game, and later branch into the expansion pack sets and stuff.
