Gilderoy Lockhart was the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher in Harry Potter's second year of schooling.
Gilderoy Lockhart is a celebrity from the wizarding world who is famous for his autobiographical accounts of his adventures with dangerous magical creatures such as werewolves and yetis. He becomes the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry during Harry Potter's second year. Lockhart immediately takes to Harry, offering him advice on how to achieve and better use fame, to Harry's annoyance and Draco Malfoy's amusement. Lockhart becomes a pest to much of the Hogwarts staff and student body, who realize that he is lying about his feats.
After Ginny Weasley is taken into the Chamber of Secrets, the other teachers talk Lockhart into saying he will rescue her, knowing full well that he will run away, so that they can get rid of him. However, Harry and Ginny's brother Ron Weasley, having deduced that the Chamber's monster is a Basilisk that enters the school through Moaning Myrtle's bathroom, come to him for help in rescuing her. When they find the Chamber, Lockhart steals Ron's wand and plans to erase the boys' memories so that he can take credit for finding the Chamber and slaying the Basilisk, but claim that he was too late to save Ginny. However, Ron's damaged wand causes the memory charm to backfire, erasing Lockhart's memory instead and causing a cave-in. After Harry has rescued Ginny and the Basilisk has been killed, Fawkes the Phoenix takes the four of them out of the Chamber.
- His minifigure face has an arrogant smile and his clothes are lavish, pink and green coloured.
- In LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, Lockhart is available in a straitjacket variant, but only via DLC.
