"Trial by Fire" is the fourth episode in the third season of Legends of Chima: The Animated Series, and the 30th episode of the series as a whole.

The Hunters continue their relentless attacks on CHIMA. The Phoenix leader Fluminox tries to recruit Eris to join the Phoenix but is less enthusiastic about non-birds like Laval and Cragger.

Summary[edit | edit source]

"In the magical world of Chima, the ancient hunters spread their crushing ice across the land, thwarting all efforts to repel the invasion. During a battle, Eris crashes her jet at a strange hill which seems to have mystic powers. Here, she has a vision of a phoenix who beckons her to Mount Cavora. Laval and Cragger follow her up a frozen waterfall where they find a hidden city of fire and are greeted by the phoenix." - Opening monologue

In the heart of Mount Cavora, the phoenix king Fluminox introduces himself to Eris and welcomes her. Cragger is surprised that Eris knows him and she explains she's seen him only in her visions.

Elsewhere, the Hunters leave the Falling Jungle behind, continuing towards the Lion City. At the Beaver Lodge, Lagravis and Longtooth explain the situation to the beavers and advise them to drain the water their home is built on as it would give the hunters an advantage. The beavers eagerly set to work constructing their dam.

Back at the Phoenix Temple, Fluminox tells of the story before the great story.
