The Tall Tale of Doubloon is the fourth short based around the origin of the crew of the Misfortune's Keep.

Plot[edit | edit source]

With the Sky Pirates asleep, the skeleton tied to the helm of Misfortune's Keep proceeds to tell the story of Doubloon:

Originally a talkative, two-faced master thief who knew Spinjitzu, Pete Doubloon would go around Ninjago committing various crimes, such as robbing Ninjago City's bank and escaping from Kryptarium using a radio of himself talking underneath his blanket.

While traveling through the underground tunnels, he would be directed to Stiix by a passing Chokun. Arriving at the city, Doubloon would stumble across Flintlocke and Clancee. Hearing that they were pirates, he would ask for directions to their ship, claiming to want transportation to Ninjago City, but secretly wanting to steal their gold.

After directing Doubloon to the Misfortune's Keep, Clancee and Flintlocke, behind his back, would agree that he was only after their treasure. Arriving in their treasure room, Doubloon would begin to break into Nadakhan's mysterious lock protecting his riches, only to be exposed by Monkey Wretch, pretending to be a statue. Even as Flintlocke, Clancee, and Nadakhan himself surround Doubloon, he would attempt to make his way into Nadakhan's crew by arguing that his success with picking Nadakhan's lock guaranteed a reward.

Agreeing, Nadakhan would grant his wish, simultaneously turning Doubloon into a two-faced being and unable to speak, much to the laughter of the surrounding Sky Pirates and Doubloon's dismay.
