Today I'm reviewing a winter 2015 set: 41094 Heartlake Lighthouse. This set is the 40$ set in the winter wave of Friends. Well will the second biggest set of the wave make a big impression?, find out in the review:
- Theme: Friends
- Pieces: 473
- Mini-doll figures: 2
- Price: $39.99

Box[edit | edit source]
The box is mainly medium lavender with medium lilac edges, like the other Friends sets. The front of the box shows Stephanie and Kate outside the ice cream parlor. I'm surprised neither of them were at the top of the lighthouse or in the boat.
Mini-doll figures and seal[edit | edit source]
Stephanie and Kate once again appear in the same set. I would rather Kate appear in 41108 Food Market and Maya appear here but oh well. It would've been nice to get a Lighthouse keeper or a boy in a beach set too. Anyway let's look at what we get:
Stephanie reuses Mia's Dolphin Cruiser torso and has her same hair and head as always. Interestingly she has a new leg piece which looks great! It's a medium lavender towel wrapped around her legs. I hope this great leg piece in lots of sets in the future! Her transparent bright reddish liac sunglasses were introduced in this wave and they look great!
Kate also has an accessory introduced in this wave, a light purple flower. She reuses Andrea's torso from 41008 Heartlake City Pool and her skirt from 41009 Andrea's Bedroom. Kate's head and hair are nothing new.
Satin makes her first appearance outside 41047 Seal's Little Rock. Her mould is still adorable and who doesn't love seals? I hope one appears in a shade of grey.
Side builds[edit | edit source]
The seal's perch and boat are the side builds of the set. The seal has a nice rocky perch area over water. It's a simple build but I think it's fine.
The boat is almost the exact same as the one from 41052 Ariel's Magical Kiss (read my review of that here) except the seats are reddish brown compared to bright reddish violet. I still love the oar construction and I do love the boat colour.
The lighthouse[edit | edit source]
The water has a fun build with the curved edges. The peer is nice too. I like the table and chairs. The sign outside the ice cream parlor telling the prices is also nice. The giant cone outside the parlor has a fun build too. The ice cream parlor is built with two shades of blue which is a nice change for Friends. The lanterns have a fun build and I like the awning over the window. The sticker advertising the shop on the roof is really nice too! I like how there's a window you can purchase frozen treats from as well. The door has a nice open sign sticker on it as well. I love the choose your ice cream section it's very cute yet somewhat realistic, as everything in Friends should be! You can use the goblet on display and choose any of the goodies on display for it. I love the 1x2 slop cash register. Upstairs there's a nice lantern build and a simple bed construction. I didn't think there was a need for this section but it's a lot better then an empty roof!
The lighthouse also has a really nice construction but why is it pink!? (LEGO calls this shade of pink, light purple :P) I don't mind most Friends sets using pinks and purples but since we get so little red in Friends I'm annoyed they skipped their opportunity. Heck why didn't they make the parlor pink and the lighthouse red? Oh well. As I said it has a nice construction to it, particularly at the top. I love the light part of it at the top, all the curves work here! The inside has a unisex toilet. It has a simple construction of a toilet and sink. I particularly like the tiling as we don't see that a lot in Friends. There's a "ladder" leading up to a map. Under the map there's a shelf with two perfumes and toilet paper.
Conclusion[edit | edit source]
Build/Design | 4½ / 5 |
Playability | 5 / 5 |
Parts | 5 / 5 |
Price | 5 / 5 |
Overall | 4½ / 5 |
My biggest fault of the set is the colour of the lighthouse, I just find it weird they skipped the most obvious place to put red bricks. I also would've liked different characters, as I stated a lighthouse captain or beach boy would've been great! The boat was also kinda lazy, basically coming from another set. Otherwise I think this set is great. If you don't mind the colour of the lighthouse and mini-doll figures I'd recommend this.
Who will you invite to your Heartlake Lighthouse?
