Today I'm reviewing another summer 2015 set: 41099 Heartlake Skate Park. This set is the $20 set in the summer wave of Friends. I haven't loved any of the $20 Friends sets before don't get me wrong there fine, but not amazing. Well will this set be the first $20 Friends set to make a big impression?, find out in the review:
- Theme: Friends
- Pieces: 199
- Mini-doll figures: 1
- Price: $19.99

The box[edit | edit source]
The box is mainly medium lavender with medium lilac edges, like the other Friends sets. The front of the box shows Mia taking forcing her little dog Charlie skate boarding. No sets are advertised in the background. The back itself just displays the sets in different ways
The contents[edit | edit source]
We get two numbered bags, a sticker sheet and a medium sized instruction manual.
Bag 1[edit | edit source]
The parts
The 2x2 lavender plate is exclusive! So are the huge (flipped arch?) pieces! Mia's helmet in bright reddish violet is exclusive as well! The orange roller skates are new for this wave. The bright yellowish green skateboard makes its second appearance here and the medium lilac wheels make their third.
Mia and Charlie
Like I said Mia's helment in this colour is new. Unfortunately it's not a new mould and is simply the horse riding helmet in a new colour. I wish they used the minifigure helmet and added the ponytail on to it, but oh well. Her face, torso, legs and camera are nothing new. I do like the outfit combination, its very tomboyish (like Mia) with just the right girliness!
Charlie is here too! Now that they've introduced Cookie, a much better looking Dalmatian I'm surprised they kept Charlie. Oh well you can see the spots on his hind legs in the first picture.
I would've liked another character to be included as it would greatly increase playability.
Skateboard and half pipe
The half pipe is very brightly colored but it's a nice build. I do find its weird there promoting graffiti on the bottom! Poor Charlie has to skate up the hole pipe just for a sniff off the bone on display. The bottom of the cones are quite nice being transparent and all. I love how they didn't make the cones pink!
The skateboard has a nice sticker. The way they attached the rope is; you attach the rope before you clip in the wheels.
Vending machine
Not only does it look nice, it works!
You place the three bottles in the machine, stacked on top of each other. You then push the lever at the back and the drink has no balance causing it to drop. You then use the lever again to push the drink forward, then Mia or whoever you choose can have a nice chilled drink. This mechanism is great! It was super fun to build too.
Bag 2[edit | edit source]
The parts
The 1x3 medium lavender tiles are brand new and exclusive! The smooth semi cylinder piece in light stone grey makes its first Friends appearance here. As do the reddish brown technic pieces.
Peer
I'm not sure why the peer was included, you think they would make two different sets but oh well. I like the coconut tree construction and its skateboarding sign. I like the build of the peer too, it's nice and simple but effective. The only thing I don't like is the colors. Not because there bright because there's too many. I think the peer would've worked much better in just brick yellow and lavender.
Other
I'm not sure what this is because I don't skateboard :P Whatever it is it looks nice, but like the peer too many colors. The ramp should be completely Iight stone grey, not orange and medium lavender mixed in! The orange bench should provide enough colour. The boom box to the side has a nice construction, we finally get the medium azure 90's-2000's phone in a cheap set! The bar to the side is a nice place to do tricks.
Conclusion[edit | edit source]
Build/Design | 4 / 5 |
Playability | 4 / 5 |
Parts | 4 / 5 |
Price | 4½ / 5 |
Overall | 4 / 5 |
I love the design of this thing, but it needs a colour scheme! I aploud them for not using pink but throwing lavender and bright orange everywhere isn't any better. I would've been fine with Mia having pink/lavender skates and the orange in the set being lavender if it ment the set would have a colour scheme. The vending machine is amazing! It's super fun to play with! I wish another character was included instead of Charlie, it's not safe for children to learn about taking their dogs skateboarding! The price is fine for what you get. You should definitely get this set if it goes on sale, I'm not sure if you should otherwise.
I invited Julian to accompany Mia, who will you invite to your skate park?
