Wolverine is a minifigure in the Marvel Super Heroes theme who was first released in 2012. A cowled variant was released in 2014 in the set 76022 X-Men vs. The Sentinel.
Description[edit | edit source]
Astonishing[edit | edit source]
Wolverine has the same black slicked up hair as the Vampire from Studios and The Joker from 2006 in black. His face has sideburns and is double-sided with straight faced and angry expressions. His torso is yellow with printing to depict his costume while he is with the X-Men, hence the belt. He has two earth blue stripes running down both sides of his torso and onto his yellow legs. There is back printing depicting how the suit fits against his back, at the top of the torso is part of his iconic mask (depicted as a hood), the continuation of the blue jagged strips and the belt. His arms are light nougat and his hands are dark blue, depicting him as sleeveless with gloves. He comes with two new claw parts which are also used on the Monster Fighters Werewolf. Similar parts were used in the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time theme.
Wolverine is based on his Astonishing suit without his mask on
Ultimate[edit | edit source]
This variant of Wolverine sports the cowl that he wears frequently in the comics as an actual new mould, instead of it being printed on his back. It is bright yellow in the middle, and the two flaps that extend outwards at either side are black. His head is light nougat and is double-sided; one on side he has a frowning expression, and on the other his teeth are bared with white goggles to make the eyes white when the mask is on. The sideburns are trimmed back on both sides of the head, where the mouth is shown on the cowl. The cowl can be interchanged with hair for the frowning face.
His torso is bright yellow, and is printed to depict his muscles at either side. Most of the front is printed with a dark brown pattern with muscles on top. His orange belt is also printed on the bottom front of his torso, and it has the "X" logo in the middle. His back continues the brown pattern, muscles and belt. His hips are dark brown, with bright yellow legs.
Video Game Varaints[edit | edit source]
In the game, Wolverine has two versions his default the Astonishing variant and Cowl, which is based on the Ultimate suit. His abilities include super senses, which allow him to detect hidden objects, dig up patches, climb certain walls, and activate special switches. If Wolverine loses all of his hearts, he doesn't fall apart like normal minifigures, instead he becomes an adamantium skeleton.
Background[edit | edit source]
Wolverine was born as James Howlett in 1899. He is a battle-hardened, amnesiac member of the X-Men, who lost his memory after a mysterious experiment that coated his skeleton in solid adamantium, improving his healing factor, and also covering his original retractable bone claws with the alloy. He also ages much slower than a normal human.
After this experiment, the only items in his possession were two dog tags stamped "Logan" and "Wolverine". He took on the name Logan and uses Wolverine as an alias. He is a mutant, part of a large group of humans that have enhanced "super powers" and abilities. He also has a rivalry with Sabretooth, who had seemingly murdered his love on Logan's birthday.
He works alongside Professor X as a member of the X-Men, which also included Jean Grey, Storm, Cyclops, Iceman, Beast, Colossus, Archangel, Psylocke, and Gambit. As a member he helped fight Sentinels and Magneto and his Brotherhood, which included Sabretooth, Blob, Juggernaut, and Mystique.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes[edit | edit source]
Professor X sent Wolverine to Ryker's Island, due to Dr. Doom recruiting Magneto and the Brotherhood. He teamed up with Iron Man and The Hulk to stop Sabretooth and Mystique, who had staged a mass breakout to release Magneto. With Iron Man stripped of his armour, Wolverine helped Hulk defeat Abomination, while Magneto Got away with Mystique.
Afterwards, he tracked Loki and Red Skull to the Hydra underneath the Empire State Building and went with Thor, Captain America, and the Human Torch to stop Loki, who had taken over Asgard with the help of the Frost Giants, and overcame The Destroyer.
While the others were arguing, Wolverine took the Tesseract, which Loki had tried to steal, back to the X-Mansion. However the Brotherhood attacked the mansion to retrieve the Cube.
When Magneto brings the Statue of Liberty to life, Wolverine, Hulk, and Mister Fantastic defeated Mastermind.
Wolverine then helped defeat the Loki controlled Galactus, along with many other heroes and villains.
