The Stone Army (also known as Rock Army Demon Army Devil Army Daevil Army Deavil Army Daemon Army and Deamon Army) are Ninjago minifigures that appear in the late 2012 and 'early 2013 sets.'
Background[edit | edit source]
The Stone Army was created by The Overlord out of indestructible stone to aid him in his battle against the First Spinjitzu Master. However, The Overlord was defeated and trapped on the Dark Island, and the Stone Army was trapped in a tomb and turned to stone once again.
After the Ninja had defeated The Great Devourer, the Serpentine (with the exception of Pythor P. Chumsworth), united under Skales in an attempt to destroy Ninjago City from below. The Constrictai Tribe burrowed until they reached the entrance to the Tomb of the Stone Army. Upon recognising a likeness of himself chiselled into the entrance, Skales pushed a button which opened the tomb. The Serpentine were met with the petrified Stone Army, who they mocked. However, the Great Devourer's venom began pouring into the tomb through the ceiling, which awakened the Stone Army once again. They were then attacked by the Serpentine, but the Serpentine were defeated and were all trapped in the tomb. The Stone Army proceeded to break out of the ground into Ninjago City and began terrorising it, causing the city to be evacuated. After the city had been evacuated, Lord Garmadon donned the Helmet of Shadows, which activated the countdown to the Final Battle on the Celestial Clock and allowed him to control the Stone Army. ("The Day Ninjago Stood Still")
Now under Lord Garmadon's control, The Stone Army returned to the Dark Island, where The Overlord and Lord Garmadon were working together to destroy Ninjago. The Overlord ordered the Stone Army to mine dark matter. The Stone Army then began building the Garmatron, a tank that would fire dark matter at the island of Ninjago to recreate the island in Garmadon's image. ("The Last Voyage")
However, The Overlord betrayed Garmadon and possessed his body after the Garmatron became operational. The Ninja's offensive on the Stone Army eventually caused The Overlord to become irritated, and he opened a portal which took him and the Stone Army to the island of Ninjago. ("Return of the Overlord")
After the Ninja found a way back to Ninjago, they attacked the Stone Army and searched for the Helmet of Shadows, which Garmadon had once donned before being possessed and being transformed into a dragon by The Overlord. The transformation caused him to drop the helmet, as he no longer needed it. Dareth eventually found the helmet and put it on, controlling the Stone Army and turning it on their master. Meanwhile, the Final Battle between The Overlord and Lloyd Garmadon commenced, eventually culminating in the defeat of The Overlord. The resulting explosion destroyed the entire Stone Army, save for one Giant Stone Warrior. ("Rise of the Spinjitzu Master")
Sometime after the defeat of Nadakhan, Kodokuna Yang tricked Cole into releasing the spirits of several defeated villains on the Day of the Departed holiday. Among the resurrected villains was General Kozu and several Stone Scouts. Yang told Kozu and the other villains that for them to remain alive, they must destroy the ones that defeated them. Kozu and the Stone Scouts then set out after Dareth. While running away from the Kozu and the Scouts, Dareth went to the Ninjago Museum of History to retrieve the Helmet of Shadows. He put on the helmet and ordered the Stone Scouts to kill Kozu, which they did, before being returned to the Departed Realm themselves after the Yin-Yang Eclipse ended. ("Day of the Departed")
